Have a look at the Land Registry website - full interactive information, as well as individual property prices (so you can check what your neighbour's house sold at...).

http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/prope.../ppr_ualbs.asp

Edited to add - also try the Nationwide B Soc's house price data at www.nationwide.co.uk/hpi/

PS. It's magnate, not magnet...

Depend on your area. Could've gone down even. Without knowing the area I don't think anyone can say.

Results:-
A property located in North West which was valued at £158000 in Q2 of 2003, would be worth approximately £221382 in Q2 of 2005. This is equivalent to a change of 40.12%.

hmm....
I'll take that with a pinch of salt..there are bigger / better houses on the same street that are not even up for that kind of money.

is that per year?

i.e,

158 + 7% = 169 Y1

169 + 7% = 180 Y2

??

Try http://www.houseprices.co.uk.

It'll at least tell you what the neighbours paid.
