Red face Taxidermy on BBC2

Is anyone watching this programme ????

How insane is the world getting.... imagine going out shooting a deer then stuffing it and putting it in your front room

Did you see that one woman from usa with a freezer shelf full of *********, then she went to a show and put her head under one stuffed animal and got exhited because someone had stuffed the animal with it's sheaf slightly drawn back !!!

And to think people believe we are an obsessive bunch

So hang on , go half way round the world pay however much it is to slay your all time 'favourite' animal..............in order to have it stuffed and mounted in 'a pose' to adorn your front room.....

perhaps the sickest form of voyerism.....

It should be legal to hunt people like the yank who travelled all the way to South Africa to kill a Leopard, just so he could stuff it

It's been around since Victorian times. It was sick then, and it's sick now.

Just like whaling or seal hunting or shooting big game.....

Yes, some of it was beyond the pale. Credit to scary Matthias, though; he dragged himself out of it, even if it was into God-Bothering.

Even though I'm not religious I felt happy for Matthias at the end of the program - it looked as if he found something else to make him even happier...

Although it looks like a strange hobby, some of them had more bearable attitudes to the animals than others!!

I thought the young girl with the deer was acceptable, no doubt they ate what they could. I've met similar people, built their own house, kill their own food, don't shop at Walmart, handy to have around should the **** hit the fan.

Freak show - all of them - that Matthias guy and the english chap both looked like serial killers.....

The guy who shot a lion hoping it was a leopard, then shot a leopard afterwards.....are these not protected species FFS?

If not they should be!

Some of it was beyond even what I could cope with, and I hunt FFS. Hunting big game is 1 thing I will never support, cos I have friends that run game reserves in SA and Mosambiquie and they have a tough time protecting them from poachers let alone paying to shoot them. The largest thing the will shoot is the gazelle family, oh and I have been invited to go on a cull.

But using what looked like a bayonet to skin a deer, oh dear. *shakes head*

But who would want a stuffed animal in their front room?

I was impressed with the guy who wanted to work in museums recreating extinct species. He wanted no vicarious involvement in the death of the animals he selected, which were raised for their meat. Furthermore, I reckon his exhibits had real scientific and educational value.
