I posted on here a bit back as Kent was the choice of living. We've now decided on North of London as I work near King's Cross and the other half works in Mayfair.
Hitchin is the place we've set upon as it looks nice and isn't the mass council estate that Stevenage seems to be.
Anyone else on here live in the area?? Any advice?
We've found a place near the station.........

It's not a bad area - I'm near Hertford, but I go through Hitchin quite a lot. There are some very nice places around there if you want to spread out a bit. Obviously budget dictates what you're looking at, but you could also try Letchworth, Watton-at-Stone (to the south east of Stevenage). There are some nice roads if you head over towards Barton-Le-Clay (west of Hitchin)
. Stevenage is very mixed - the old town area is very nice, but it's like a lot of towns in this area - they've expanded to meet demand. Neil Smalley lives on the outskirts of Stevenage - might be worth a chat with him too.

While I don't live in Hitchin, it is a nice place..... you pay a little more on house prices tho as there are many people who do the live/commute there

I live in Harpenden, approx 20miles from Hitchin.
Harpenden is a really nice and affluent place.
There is a train station that will get you into London in around 50mins.
