What are the laws on neons etc.
Me and my mate were experimenting with lighting ideas last night and just want to know if we are liable to get bolloxed
So what are the basic rules of thumb for non standard lighting.
Don't want to give to much away as havent heard or seen anyone else do what we have in mind.
Will try to get a photo by the end of the week as it looked well mint last night.

You need to look up construction and use regs, from what I remember from my CPC:
You may only have white and orange light visible from the front
You may only have red and orange light visible from the rear with the exceltion of a white rear number plate light.
Lighting is also regulated by type, i.e. indicators, main lights, fog lights as well as the heights at which they may be displayed.
In short, pretty much anything you do with neons could leave you open to prosecution under C&R if the copper saw fit.

The only visable light will be green and it will only be visable from the side. The light sources actually happen to be glow sticks. (Awaits flaming)
And when you say prosecution does that me points and fine or just fine?

You may only show, white, red or orange lights - period.
C&U regs means you can get a prohibition order slapped on you - i.e. the car stays where it is until it conforms to regs again. Fines can be substantial but I don't think you would get points.

Olly - If the lights are hidden beneath the car i.e. not visible to the naked eye at driver height. All you can see is the reflection of the light on the road, this is a bit of a loophole left open by the act.

You also must only be able to see the light- not the filaments/tubes/bulbs themselves.
This is the loophole enabling kevs to drive around with the neons under their cars-its actually legal.
