...and another Boeing 737, this time a -200 series operated by TANS airline. It went down near Pucallpa. Weather may have been a factor, it was close to the airport, the pilot apparently trying to make an emergency landing on a road. About 100 people on board, only 50% survived. ![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)

Too early to say if it was weather or mechanical or a combination on both. Although the emergency landing would point towards the latter two.
The aircraft has been operated under TANS for only 10months (previously Varig fron 1974 to 2003 and Aero Continente to 2004). Its first flight was in 1974 (737-241A) and appears to be the only aircraft in their fleet.
Any survivors in a plane crash is a godsend.

Air Crash Investigation program on the other week showed the intense pressure pilots are put under by the owners to make the airport.
Even though there are rules and guidlines about landing in severe weather and storms during the investigation it was found almost 70% of the pilots landed the plane through storms systems that exceeded the guidelines. Some did go on holding patterns but only around 20% diverted to an alternative airport.
As always, money talks.

Im getting well wound up with all the crashes lately. I supposed to be flying in 2 weeks on connecting flights. Im not the best flyer anyway cause i get real wound up. Yeh i know its supposedly the safest way to travel because loads of cars etc crash a day. But my point being is that when a plane crashes the chances of survival are next to nothing and usually 100's of people die. In a car crash theres a chance ull survive and chances are only a few, if any, people will die. Not lookin forward to being on a plane if any noises or turbulance occurs!
