One of my mates reckons that using air-con in the car all the time does you no good-said something about most systems not being humidified and so the air quality is crap! He does a bit of HGV work and he says he never uses the air-con in the trucks and would rather put down the windows and sweat it out. As an example, he said about some bloke we know whos a salesman and always got the air con on and have to admit , hes not the healthiest looking bloke in the world! Anyone else heard anything about adverse effects of using air-con??

Sounds like rubbish to me, no real health problems with a/c.

"all the time", maybe. But how often do you really spend sitting in the cab? You have to have a 30 min break every 4 hours, you can't drive longer than ?8 hours, you presumably have (multi)drops as well to break that up... sounds a bit **** to me. Especially as he's in the UK (I assume) where you don't need aircon that often.

The biggest health risk with a/c is if you don't get the evaporator disinfected regulary. Being a nice damp environment in the heater box you get lovely mould and bacteria growing and you breath in the spores. Even disease as bad as legionnaires!


Next time you go to work in your lovely air conditioned office, ask your employer when the filters were checked/cleaned and evaporators were cleaned and disinfected.....it's alarming how many in the UK never get touched.


Anything else is BS, may a give you dry throat, buts thats about it

The only thing I find in using AC in a car (mine needs a recharge ) is that you are nice and comfy until you get out the car the then WHAM the heat hits you

I was in Las Vegas a few years back and temp was hitting 130 and getting in and out of cars houses knock the stuffing out of you after a while

It does have an adverse on you to a certain degree. My sister suffers when being pro-longed to air conditioning it blocks here sinuses (sp?) When we are on holiday she has to turn the unit of the night before flying home and before scuba diving.

Personally.

I cant use it for a long time. As the airs too dry for my nose. And it starts to feel uncomfortable.And I get a mile headache. As said above, main problem is bacteria growth. As AC creates condensatation. Can in extreme cases cause Legionnaires!

a/c benefit is when u want sex in a very hot day, u appreciate the cold breeze just make sure it aint pointed at your nads and willie they will probably shrink while u r doing the old in and out
