Default To/Too, Your/You're - Bah!

Am I the only one who gets worked up with the constant misuse of to/too and your/you're?

I was taught the difference when I was in primary school, but it seems that 70% of people haven't grasped the concept - and I'm not just talking about on here, it's everywhere; in e-mails, on signs, even on television.

I know I'm being overly meticulous, but it winds me up.

I must also add, the same can be said for there/their/they're.

Hello

In general, grammar has deteriorated over the years. The proliferation of communication via abbreviated text message and to a lesser extent email has only increased the problem.

It isn’t only the incorrect use of “too” or “you’re”, but just general lack of formality in emails with incorrect sentence structure that annoys me immensely.

So are we saying that teachers can no longer smack you on the knuckles with a steel ruler for making a spelling or grammar error ?

I used to have a teacher who would smack you across the knuckles with a ruler or dig his knuckles into your spine, depending on how bad you'd been Kids these days don't know how lucky they are blah blah blah...

Place pronouns as close as possible, especially in long sentences, as of ten or more words, to their antecedents.

And don't start a sentence with a conjunction.

Avoid trendy locutions that sound flaky. Like, be aware that "like" is, like, easily misused.

If a chimley fell down into the road, it would be a good opportunity to test your breaks.
