Default Mountain bike size?

i'm looking to buy a mountain bike as i'm getting lazy, i hope to do an hour or so each weekend morning (when there's noone around ) - i'm going to get one off ebay as these seem so much cheaper ( i don't need anything special except stabilisers), ho do i know what size to get? do i measure from the ground to my nads (28") and go for that or do i go smaller and raise the seat?

cheers

mountain bikes are designed to have a low standover hight, ie low top tube, and the seat post quite high. Lets you move the bike under you easier.
You really need to try frame sizes, as they come in different lengths too.

Be very wary of bikes on ebay, you get what you pay for. Riding a £100 bike is like putting remoulds on your scooby.
Forget full suspension unless you want to pay £700+, is it's just a weak, heavy gimick on cheap bikes

Ditto pwhittle

If you want a cheap mountain Bike spend £150 and dont have suspension of any kind if you want to spend more than that get some magazines and do some research. www.singletrackworld.com is a great resource for all things mountain bike.

28" inside leg? Then its a small. But cheap and off e.bay dont bother you wont like it and it'll probably never get used, certainly not off road, it'll break first time you use it seriously. Spend at least 350 for a mountain bike.
