I need a decent make for rechargable batteries
I bought myself 2 sets of Uniross Ni-Mh batteries at two different times, from different shops.
They are quite high capacity 1700mAh. If they are charged and then used they work fine. However, if they are charged and stored for only a week, they are unable to even power a camera on
The amount of leakage current in these things is awful. I am making sure that they are being stored outside of the camera in a cool, dry place (desk draw).
I've really had enough of trying to predict when I am going to use my camera, so its time for a change. Suggestions please

I have energiser batteries and charger 2300m (I think).
I can leave the batteries in my digi cam for a few weeks and they still hold the charge.
Had no problems at all, I have been surprised by how long they last. They get used in a few different objects before the power runs out.

Will have to try those next then, thanks for the suggestion
(I still cannot believe how quickly these things lose their charge. My Minidsic player holds its charge for 12 months!! )

Try keeping them somewhere warm.
Cant say I have ever had a problem with them myself. ASre you sure you are using the correct charger?

Sanyo are the best cells you can buy...usually can get them from any good model shop
I have had problems when one cell charges.discharges more than the others and they all get out of balance.
I found that with one set of cells my camera wouldn't last as long. So I discharged them all then left them a few hours and measure the voltage. There was 0.5volts differnce between them all.
So I selectively deep discharged them indiviually (as opposed to a set) until they all read the same voltage, and then charged them up...worked fine since

What do people think of this? I've never heard of them before, but I cannot find any Sanyo batteries with a decent charger. Seems that when you search for batteries in Google there are only a few brands that they are prepared to sell you!!
Anyway, this charger will charge each battery separately But it is expsensive

mate i use their own charger as well
when its charged i always take them out and dont leave them in the adaptor specially with the switch button still on
maybe your melting them inside coz of doing that
and dont use the powerful green ones on separate flashes for your camera''s its too powerful and will blow then up inside

Hmmm, maybe that is it. The charger I got said that it was auto turn off. So when it turned to red I was not too concerned. They have been in the charger for sometimes many more hours than needed simply because I was not there.
Each time they came out they were very hot. Perhaps they have all been overcharged

Stoopid foofing charger
It SAID is auto-switched off. Grrr, thats annoying.
So that is several sets of batteries buggered up now then. Think I will get me a different charger that has either current or voltage detection
Thanks moses, at least we have worked out how I managed to bugger them up....
