Sky+ planner question
What's the point of the Lock/Unlock function? I have a programme which I've kept (blue button) and locked (left arrow then blue button) but by pressing the yellow button I can delete it easily. I would have thought this might have prevented accidental deletions but apparently not.
Perplexed as to what it does....seeing as I've only recently noticed it there!

I've had Sky and now Sky+ forr ages and never used a PIN code. I don't actually need it as I know it won't prevent my "kept" programme from being deleted accidentally...but was wondering, how do I find out what the code is or do I create it myself?

Thanks for that Darren , I'll key that in to see if it works just in case I might need it in future. According to the Digital Spy forums I may well need it if I want to copy a film rated 18 (i.e. Dracula) to another device so although it shouldn't give me any problems with the recording I want to keep ("Genius: Rory Gallagher" which was brilliant) I'lll need to check it just in case.

Slightly off topic , but I am thinking of getting SKY again with the SKY + box , would this do away with my VCR ? obviously apart from watching old videos

You record programs on the unit's hard drive. It can easily be set to record a whole series as well simply by pressing two buttons. Fast forward up to 30x speed during playback. Record two programs/channels at once whilst watch another previously recorded one at the same time.
Highly recommended.

Thanks Darren , would it be possible to connect the SKY+ box up to a home cinema system ? It's already wired up to the TV and DVD

Yes, we have ours connected to our home cinema. Sky Movie channels 1,2, and 3 broadcast many movies in 5:1 surround sound and by connecting the digital out cable from the back of the Sky+ box, it works like a charm.
As Darren, our VCR has long gone to the bin and I'm now looking at alternatives (DVD) for keeping those extra special programmes around a bit longer as there is a limit to the hard disk space in the box.
The only problem with the Sky+ box is that it doesn't make popcorn so you'll have to make other arrangements
Incidentally, thanks to everyone for your help on this. I've now got my PIN code and keyed it in, locked the Rory Gallagher programme and when I tried to delete it, I'm prompted for the code so that's exactly what I wanted to achieve.
