Finally bit the bullet and shelled out on one of these.
Have read all sorts about Dyson's either being great or rubbish so a bit dubious but what the hell.
Well it works!, shocked at just how much more cr@p it picked up over our Vax, the dusk collector was half full after doing the lounge, hall and upstairs carpets and no, before anyone says "you filthy buggers" we 'hooverd' at least twice a week and the carpets where 'done' two days prior to 'the *****' arrival. The carpets are looking like new.

I'm tempted but it looks like it'll understeer badly. Call me old fashioned but I can get better carpet slides with my trusty DC04.
Cue about 10,000 replies slagging off Dysons....

Not much understeer, handles beautifully IMHO. Not had problems with heatsoak and the powered brush bogging down!
Looks great parked on the drive as well!

Funny you should mention heat soak as ours is having problems at the moment. I took it for a service a couple of weeks ago complaining that it stopped working after 5 minutes use which they thought was due to it being clogged up.
Every time it stops working, provided you switch it off it will work again after it has cooled down. If you don't switch it off it won't work again. Could this be the dreaded heat soak or could it be electrically related?
Anyone?

You can stuff your Dysons, we tried one, we also tried a very expensive Hoover but MrsREV bought a £40 Morphy Richards cylinder vac and it out cleans the lot of them. 1500W of pure suck

Every hoover you clean your carpet with, a new dyson will come along right after hoovering and get another 30% out of the carpet.
That includes sebo, henry, vax etc etc.
Then use a bissel deep cleaner and get another 50% out after the dyson

The wet vacs really do get the crap out. Do ours once or twice a year (used to do it more when we still had the dogs ). But bloody slow and hard work (can't rush it otherwise you don't suck all th mucky water out of the carpet)..Bissels don't hold enough suds/water, and the karcher puzzi/vax breaks your back.
Dyson is a prety damn good vac compared to the Electrolux "superduper loads of hepa filters that cause the motor to overheat and melt" pile of crap....just as long as you make sure the cyclone bit doesn't drop out when emptying, and if it does...realign it properly (theres an indented line on the bin) otherwise the dust goes straight into the filter (didn't say that in the instructions

And yes, I was amazed how much the Dyson got out of the carpet the first time I used it too.
