Thumbs down Letter regards Speeding!

Hello all

Got a letter quite scary actually stating 'NOTICE OF INTENDED PROSECUTION' was speeding apparently and they got me on a camera. Must have been a Mobile one.

I have to fill in the back of the letter and send it back.

The road is a long wide, bendy free flowing road and not really residential at all...well not the part I put my foot down on. Lots of farmland and fields.

It is the first time I have been in this kind of situation the letter makes me feel like a real criminal!!! So what happens now is it 3 points and £60 fine? Can I expect my Insurance to go sky high?

Aaquil.

Insurance won't be affected if it's your first offence.

One of the users on here has an Octavia 1.8T 4x4 estate version and tuned it. I went out a few times in it during some of the North runs and it is a nifty piece of kit. Not bad on three wheels either.

Aaquil, you *should* cop a 3 point and 60 GPB fine with little effect on your insurance. Long time no speak, I hope all is well?

A bit of sympathy, then a poster saying you deserved it, then some "high horse" comments, then some "why else would you buy a Subaru" comments...

Well guys thanks for all the replies.

To my dear friend Little Miss WRX...'Long time no speak...' yes there haven't any controversial Islamic Thread recently have there!!! I hope you are well.

Den thanks for the link but I have already sent the form off.

Brendan...I'll have that RS4 one day probably when they are 15 years old and very unreliable (kinda like my very old Legacy I got rid of).

I would suggest an extra £60-£100 per year onto your insurance, depending on who you're with of course.

Brendan...I don't think so...what do you drive anyway.

Ianc I had no choice the 'Need to save up for a house' Rover 200 gave up the ghost in glorious fashion. Head gasket and exhaust. I was advised replace engine (recon) and new exhaust it was just not worth it. I was thinking of tuning next year (possible more favourable Insurance) I don't know whats going to happen now!!! Can you give me a list of your mods and who are you Insured with.

Thanks to all for the helpful posts.

Aaquil.

The vast majority (if not all) Scam Pratnerships will send you straight to court for 26mph above the speed limit (eg. 96 in a 70)

So that's a maximum of 6pts and £1000 fine (£2500 if motorway) for the speeding offence. It's also possible they may push for dangerous driving, but it's not that common until you reach the kind of speeds that gets you on the news like that biker doing 150.

I suggest you get a job with the police force some time between now and your court date, then you'll get let off.

How did you miss that? Not a built up area? no signs? Cr@p driver? Not concentrating=cr@p driver? incompetent?
Hopefully a double premium and a few hours of bench painting but you'll probably get off with a £60 fine and 3 paltry poins with a slight rise in insurance at renenal ~ 20%... Its a daft world

Actually, the vast majority of Pratnerships will instigate some soft of proceedings at 35 in a 30. Depending on which one it is, you will either get a caution, an offer to go on a speed awareness course or the normal 3/£60

The exception to this is Tyneside which will do you at 31

Ahhhh 35 is slightly mushy and cruel, like my mums shephards pie... 40 however is simply poor unnatentive driving....

To get done at 31 is totally ridiculous. No measuring equipment is accurate enough for that! 35 is unrealistic as well for 3 points and £60 unless it is a very constricted and dangerous area.

35 quite happily sits at the 10% +2 limit, can certainly expect to get a ticket for it.

As for chappy getting offered a ticket at 110mph i'd be interested to know the circumstances cos you are a lucky chappy, normally it's straight to court who will often give at least a 28 days ban.

Unless the cop really was having a good day then i'd say he either didn't have the proper equipment and therefore estimated from his own speedo...at that speed it'll obvious you are breaking the limit, but it still needs to be measured properly. I would think he didn't have this and estimated knowing that you'd gladly have a ticket then have to got to court and get a ban.

Let it be noted that there's nothing really wrong in this...he could have still reported for summons and explained to a court the circumstance, but chances are they would turn around and say is with no accurate speed measure the best they can give is due care....which'd probably get you £60 and 3 points as usual (personally i'd have gone striaght for that under the circumstance), so he figured why waste court time.....all conjecture of course m'lud!!!
