According to today's headline, Trevor Phillips of the CRE says "British society is "sleepwalking" its way into racial segregation, according to the UK's race equality chief."

"According to excerpts leaked to newspapers earlier this week, Mr Phillips will argue schools are becoming more exclusive and some universities are becoming "colour-coded".

Black boys may have to be separated from classmates to help improve school performance, the head of the Commission for Racial Equality has suggested.

Mr Phillips said a lack of self-esteem and positive role models for black boys also compounded the problem, as well as an attitude that being clever is not cool.

"If the only way to break through the wall of attitude that surrounds black boys is to teach them separately in some classes, then we should be ready for that," he said.

He doesnt know what hes on about. One moment hes saying multi-culuralism doesnt work (no-****), then next hes saying 'white schools' should be forced to take more ethnic pupils so they intergrate?!!

Thing is he doesnt mention forcing 'single faith', ie Islamic schools to accept more white pupils does he?...

Its not surprising that people of the same race/faiths live in the same areas as each other - they chose to do so.

Two points that occured to me this morning too

Then I scrolled down the teletext news where I'd read the original story, only to see that today is the day of the "Music of Black Origin" awards

What does Mr Phillips have to say about THAT then? Where is the MOWO awards ceremony? And where the Association of WHITE police officers?

The man's a c*nt............if there's segregation and favouritism, it's against whites. And there shouldn't be ANY!

Try telling that to the community leaders the cops meet with to smooth out relations when a gang of Asians goes on the rampage. My two lads would have been sent down for the same things as those lot did. Not ONE single Asian youth was prosecuted.

Whats annoying is I was listening to the radio about 1pm on my way home and heard someone (think it was ms dynamite) saying that the MOBOs are a good thing because black music doesnt get enough praise.... What????? So I suppose white music is praised all the time is it?

The whole 'mobo' thing has been done to death. it's for music of black ORIGIN. white people can enter and win (and have). So although it's probably NAMED innapropriately, the actual awards aren't being racist as such.

As for the police, well you can start a white police officers group if you want (if you're a policeman of course) and people can oppose it. Problem is people didn't oppose the black police group strongly enough.

Besides, what's the real harm? Should we also stop Gentlemen's clubs, ladies clubs, gay & lesbian groups, religious groups etc..

Anyway, the topic in hand is important, we need more integration, not segregation. Segregation only makes the problems worse. And it's NOT up to 'them' to sort things out, it's up to ALL of US as a society. The Govt need to ensure that immigrants are integrated as well as possible rather than chucking them with all the other blacks/whites/muslims/asians/etc. to save 'hassle'.

Whats the real harm? well its clearly segregating the black police from the white police, then you yourself go onto say in the next breath that we need more integration, not segregation.....

No it's not. they still work together, in reality it's just an 'after work club' like the others. In principle, the groups themselves are excluding people so wrong in that respect. However I've not time to care if someone wants to go to a womens group or whatever just because I can't.

Just out of interest, can a non black person join the black police officers association if they really wanted to? could the group stop them?

But how should the government ensure the immigrants are intergrated when they DEMAND to be allowed to continue with their traditions and customs, and make a massive fuss when they cant?

To intergrate they'd need to speak our language, adopt our cultures and leave theirs behind - but they wont do that. So we are left with different groups of people, who stay in their own groups - its a no win.

Trevor Philips just likes making Headlines. Why do you think it was "leaked" a few days ago. If you believed all the bo11ocks he said you'd think that

a) All young black men have no choice but to get a gun instead of an education

b) White middle class is responsible for everything

and many more.

IMHO Hes a typical example of Power corrupting. The CRE's work is important. But hes just making them look stupid with his constant rhetoric! They need a new leader. One that has actually lived in a less affluent area, and understands the everyday situation. Not just what he thinks it is

There's no need to have an organisation representing the 95+% majority, now is there? The reason for black/lesbian/whatever groups is to ensure that they get the SAME treatment as the majority (in the case of the police, white and male), not better.

If it were to be an overwhelmingly black police force, then a white police officers federation would be a good idea. Since these are not the facts in the UK, the idea's a daft one.

The reason Black/Lesbian/Whatever groups exist is so that they can pressurise the rest of the country into toeing THEIR line, anyone who disagrees can automatically be branded a racist/homophobe/whatever, no matter how reasoned their argument

For the record, by the standards set by most minority special interest groups I ama racist, homophobic bigot and to be honest quite proud of it By the standards set by real-life sensible people I am probably a normal, well-balanced individual
