Anyone find the MOBO awards racist ??
I'm sure if there was a MOWO awards, there would be uproar !
Not got anything against the music, unless it's (c)rap which i hate, but it always struck me as being racist and I couldn't understand how they could get away with it.
Mind you Maria Carey won something one year, which I thought was hilarious.

How do they get away with it? Because we have to allow it to happen, otherwise we'd be branded racist. But if we wish to exclude non-white artists/groups from an awards show and have it white only, oh dear, we can't do that, terribly bad form.
It seems nowadays most of the black music is simply wannabe gansters rapping. Wish it was not but it'll continue whilst the youths keep buying it, hoping that it'll somehow allow them to escape the ghetto and become big stars like the rappers they listen to, which they won't, they'll end up working in burger king or just scrounge off wellfare.

ALthough the idea was sound in the begining. Its just been hi-jacked by certain elements of society for a political end.
I caught a bit of a programme the other morning. Has 3 youths from a Streatham Estate. 1 Black, 1 White and 1 Muslim. They all viewed themselves as British. As they all said "we all dress the same, we all like the same music, we all live in the same area."
So why some political groups think we're segregated I have no clue

heres an idea - get treated as slaves for hundreads of years, get treated as 2nd class citizens for a bit after that and then find you still arent on an equal playing field - then have your MOWO (what would that be? nordic flutes?)
i remember being at a sales conference a few years ago when the MOBOs where on.........all of us in the room earnt 100k +++.....ONE black bloke there.
on the way home stopped for a burger with a few of the guys....EVERY burger flipper was black.....back in the car the guys where moaning about the "unfair" MOBO's (while we all sat in a 7 series eating food cooked for us by black people....all very weird.
and you care about the ******* MOBO's?????
heres an idea - get treated as slaves for hundreads of years, get treated as 2nd class citizens for a bit after that and then find you still arent on an equal playing field - then have your MOWO (what would that be? nordic flutes?)

I used to work for a company that had a "Black Engineer of the Year" award (yes, it was a US-based company). I always thought it insinuated that if you were black you weren't good enough for the normal "Engineer of the Year" award.
My suggestion of having "Bald Engineer of the Year" didn't catch on though.

R&B, soul, rap etc. DID originate from black people. Bangra originates from Asians, Rock from whites etc.
The girls at my office sometimes have a 'girls lunch' but I don't get offended by this. The blokes, after all, have a 'lads' night out as well. Now if this were the case every lunch then it'd be a problem but it's something that only happens every now and again.
Anyway, how many people are REALLY offended? I suspect that many WANT to be offended as an excuse to have a rant.

I dont think it's racist although I do think its done its job very well in that when it started music of black origin didnt get the airtime or recognition that it gets today and it has certainly done that in fact I would say black music nowadays is more mainstream than white, I dont listen to radio 1 because its predominantly black music but they are simply reflecting what is popular and is in the charts thats all so Im with all the old fogeys on radio 2 now! I do like some black music and I used to be well into rap, just got old I guess!
