iTunes people help!
Most of my music folders (when viewing in explorer) have the album artwork on them. These do not, however appear in iTunes. In addition I can't 'find' these images as they are 'attached' to the album folders and not a file that I can see.
Anyone help? using iTunes 5 and XP Home.

my mate gib say:
"Open Itunes, select the tracks from the particular album, drag the picture out of the folder into the space at the bottom left of the i-tunes window. It wont automatically update just because the picture is in the folder"
...but personally I have no idea!!

The album art should be encoded into the mp3 file itself not on a file directory. If you have the artwork appended to the file itself then it will show up in iTunes.
Look for this button at the bottom of iTunes Click it and you should see the artwork pallette. If there is no artwork in there then you don't have the artwork appended to the file.
To fix this just drag and drop any image file into this space and it will automagically be put on the track.

I have the album artwork option on.
I guess that although the album folder has the artwork on it (view thumbnails), I can't find the actual image nor can I drag it into iTunes.

That'll be explorer for you. The image will probably be hidden in some directory system under a user friendly name such as 2132148392u42319487410983247.jpg. God knows why they don't append the artwork to individual tracks like everyone else?
You can get decent artwork from amazon or google images. Copy and paste into the artwork spot in iTunes. All the other jukebox software out there will then also be able to deal with your artwork.

That would take AGES. If you drag an image over if just copies it to the currently playing track, not the whole album.
Is there any software that'll scan the HDD/Amazon/iTunes Store etc. and do it all for me?

Yep, there's a program called iTunes Art Importer available at http://www.yvg.com/itunesartimporter.shtml
It runs on .NET so you'll have to download that too. The version I have is a pre-release (0.9.2), but it works pretty well.
