Hold on a minute
It was David Blunkett, a former (and future) member of Bliars cabinet who restricted our right to choose our children's school, who opened the floodgates for illegal immigrants to bleed our welfare system dry, who so hamstrung our Police Force with red tape that they could no longer do their jobs properly!
It was Cherie Booth, wife of our glorious leader, and her cronies who paved the way for the compensation culture, who stood up for the right of the criminal to persecute the law abiding citizen without fear of reproach!
It was Tony Blair himself who took us into an illegal invasion of a sovereign territory, on the back of lies and deceit, and keeps us there, with an army so depleted by swingeing cutbacks that they have to buy their own protective equipment!
Yes Bliar may be the greatest leader of all time, but only if the only other candidates on the shortlist are Mao Tse Tung, Robert Mugabe & Josef Stalin:******:

Very weak, plastic and uninspriring...completely unable to captivate the audience.

Has he saved European democracy (NO!). Has he got a cheesy smile and looks like the gnome in the corner of the garden (YES!).
In our time, well, Mum and Dad's time... Winston Churchill was the leader who had genuine insight into a horrible future and mortgaged the UK's future to ensure the return of democracy to western Europe.
For the freedoms and rights we currently enjoy, remember him....!

Sadly this Country is in a worst state than it has ever been in modern times. The Health service is failing, they are just working on stupidly non patient based targets, the schools are failing our children with record levels of truancy, and illiteracy, students are leaving university with no degrees and huge debts, the armed forces are the smallest and getting smaller and most are fighting a pointless war we cant win in some God forsaken place where we are not wanted, we have a huge black hole in our finances to the point where the World Bank are intervening, law and order is at an all time low ................ where to stop?

He is a good speaker and follows all the rules to whip up his dyed in the wool supporters.
In typical manner he stated all the remedies which have been called for by the people of this country but which have been ignored for all this time so far by the government. If they follow standard NL policy this will be the only time they will have been mentioned and nothing will come of them, as ever.
What really counts as far as being a good leader is concerned is not just being able to talk the talk, but will he have the political will to actually do something about the problems he mentioned. Has not happened so far.
He did spend a lot of time telling us how good he is holding up examples which were not true anyway.

Thatcher. Well, apart from my well-known utter hatred of the woman - she and her acolytes decimated my home city - I'd have to say that she was really very effective for her first 5-6 years, and declined alarmingly thereafter.
Ghandi - agree
Gorbachev - more important to the West than to the Russians, if truth be told. They saw everything turn to dust, we saw the end of emnity. I'd agree that he was important, but whether he can be sadi to have led his people is open to some debate.
Reagan - second term was alarmingly hands-off, but agree that he led major change. Still have absolutely no time for what he did.
If we're nominating great political leaders, can I add the following, some of whom are less than household names :
Clement Attlee
Otto von Bismarck
Nelson Mandela
Woodrow Wilson
Harry Truman

I'm no politician, but let me tell you what I see outside now...anywhere I look virtually
- Chavs...EVERYWHERE!
- A Health Service which is so disorganised and unefficient (my suster is a doctor, and has her hours capped per week....it doesn't matter how many patients she has, she can only work so many hours, so of course the patients are getting less treatment than they need....that is, if she were to listen to the guidelines)
- An Eductaion system that seems to promote a life of dole seeking scroungers. Universities have so called 'basket weaving' courses which anyone can seemingly join just so they can get drunk 6 times a week!
- A police force that concentrate more on the non-violent crimes...and especially with those that aren't really deemed criminal e.g. motoring offences...so much so that we now have a gun culture that is escalating out of hand.
- Illegal imigrants getting a foothold in our country, and are taking benefits from those that really deserve it.
- A PC attitude that seems to reward the bad and punish the good. It is now acceptable to steal cars, shoot people, burgle houses, rape women, kill children....but heaven forbid, if I see you turning a corner without indicating! it's off to tower bridge!!!
- A complete lack of respect for other people and other peoples property...perhaps this is due to the fact that people know they won't really get punished for hitting someone in the street, or stealing a car.
I can remember Margaret Thatcher's government, and that is how I want it now...I say bring back the poll tax, and cut the PC crap...and lets stamp down on the chavs and scroungers that seemingly run this country now!
pslewis....why don't you go and shine Tony's shoes then....afterall, you're just another one of his minions!
