Nice. Respect to the alligator

Didnt say he clawed at it whilst inside it, confusing really because I didnt think the python would have eaten it with the gator still alive, thats not how they feed is it.... maybe it was cut before in the struggle?

They don't tend to think about the practicalities of how they are going to eat their prey when they go for the kill, they make the decision and then go for it and worry about how to eat it afterwards! They do indeed wait until the prey is dead before releasing their grip and finding the head in order to start swallowing. It is possible the alligator 'came to', after being swallowed as they can hold their breath for ages by reducing their metabolism down to virtually nothing.
The largest captive snake in the world was a female Burmese python called 'Baby' . She was nearly 27 foot long and weighed 29 stone!
Here she is with her former owner before he rehoused her at Serpent Safari in Illinois.
Unfortunately, last I heard, she died of a respiratory infection, to which they are susceptible.

Excellent picture, Where did you find it? It really shows how their dentition is designed to ratchet prey down its cake-hole!
Royals only grow to 5/6 foot so you should be ok!

No, bacterial infection of the lung. Most snakes are susceptible because they only have one lung. Pythons actually have two but one is only partly formed.

Yeah I know the Royals only grow to about 5/6 feet, been trying to find out how heavy they get, so we can size the tank/stand for when its a bit bigger
Its currently onlyl about 2 foot long, and about 8 months old

Some friends of my parents kept snakes, and they had an Indian Python that was about 20 feet long - they finished up giving it to a university. It was like a fecking tree trunk round the middle. They fed it on live rabbits.
They also used to let them crawl round the house which was a bit disconcerting if you were sitting on the sofa and could feel one of them slithering behind your neck !!

My burmese python is just coming into shed at the moment so she has curled up in her favourite hiding place in her enclosure and only comes out to bask under the heater or to hiss at me whenever I come close!
She'll be moody like that for a week or so until her eyes clear.
