Leffe - nice!
I've just tried Leffe for the first time in my adult drinking life. It was a gift from my regional business manager, as a thank you, for really turning up the quality of work he expects from his trainee managers. But I digress. It's the first time I've ever tasted Leffe - I'd always assumed it was for alco's -but I was pleasently surprised and pleased by it's smooth aromatic, fruity and slightly spiced flavour. I'm still astounded by how smooth it is compared to lesser beers from Belgium. And at 6.6% it kicks the **** off of Stella in strength too! I think I could get used to this stuff. Although I'm stil debatng with myself if the fruity taste contains banana...
Well, that's it from me, call it a mini-review if you will but I've really savoured this drink (even more so as it was free!). Anyone else out there a fan of Leffe blonde? I've been told there is a Leffe brown, how different is it? I've always been into brunettes as a preference (but that's a different story...).
Anyway, that's me done. I'll settle down with my final 75cl worth (and at 6.6% I guess that's about a weeks worth of drinking... ) but luckily it's not sent me mental, plus I don't have a wife to beat!
Roll on October 14th when I'm running a cask ale festival for six weeks

leffe blonde is lovely stuff. there was a thread on it about 1 year ago i think. loads of other beers too. have tried the blonde and the brun but not the tripple yet (think i tried the red one too)
my brother and i often go to the hot house in chelmsford for a few pints of leffe (not that the two brewers has stopped selling it).
telboy - bottoms up in rainsford road and only fine beer in broomfield road sell it (i bought a jeraboam last year!) and sainsburys sell it too i think
ember - where's the festival? have you been to the oktoberfest before? a must for beer lovers everywhere (but it can be hard work if you go for more than 2 full days )

Leffe is nice but I don't really rate it as a proper Belgium beer as its made by Interbrew, the same company that mass produces that nasty Stella stuff
Try Chimay, Westmalle, Trappiste Rochefort, Delerium Tremens, and so many others. Mmmmmm beer

Don't know if you have one nearby. All this talk of Belgium beer is tempting me to stop by my local store and pick up a case on the way home tonight

Prefer the brun myself - really nutty flavour, although do like the blonde aswell.
Sainsbury's sell it down here and often have it on offer
Have had a couple of bottles that were completely flat, which I took back and got replaced - mind you that is a low percentage

I was in a wine bar last year. They didn't sell draught cider, the barman said "if your a cider drinker then maybe this might appeal to you". So he poured an inch of Leffe into a half pint glass. I was so surprised, I really liked it. "I'll have a pint of Leffe then please". No wonder everybody esle was drinking out of a half pint glass, it cost me £4.50, the robbin' bar steward.
I bought a bottle from the local supermarket and it just didn't taste the same, I just gave it to the wife (the Leffe that is).
Nice on draught but horrible from a bottle.

Another similarly pleasent lager is Reina Oro. I can drink it by the crate and wake hang-over free.

We've chosen to kick of with Tom Wood's Shepherds Delight and YoungsWaggledance.
Each week we will have a managers choice and a guests choice which you can vote for. There's 36 in all, so quite a variety.
