Quite enjoyed it for a change. The feature on the Harrier jet pilot was very good and I liked the Exige 240R v 911 bit too. Anything has got to beat the tosh that normally gets put on at 8:00PM in the evening.

i used to think that but that hair wasnt happening for vbh. how much of a ***** did that presenter look biding for that schumacher seat. when he won he was buzzing like a bee at the camera and the guy sat in front of him turned round and shot him the most priceless look ever

They do copy Top Gear so much its a joke!
But its got to be said I quite enjoyed it, and will be watching every week. Thought the Harrier bit was good, as was the Exige and 911 bit.
They tend to give you more info on the cars than Top Gear, but overall TG does have it whipped.

jeez .....top gear is built around 'personallitieees' and thus starts from minus points on my scorecard. But hey if thats what people want.........
i enjoyed this particular episode .... have no idea what the budget is.
Supaminicupa - i take it you enjoy a firm hand on your entrance then..?

More interesting than Eastenders, but only just.
The Harrier budget should have been spent on a decent set, rather than hire an internet shop
Ferrari article was good, but the 911 v 240R was about 2 minutes long, and they didn't actually tell you much about them. Not enough car substance considering an hour show IMO
Fair play to Plato for the GT40 double circle powerslide

I thought that the move to the hour-long format was a mistake. The presenters don't have the charisma or interpersonal banter to hold an audience for that long. Not only did they copy TG's track leaderboard, but they tried a woefully poor "hi-tec" version that had none of the rough-and-ready appeal of the TG board, whilst having a pop at the effectiveness of the car-testing qualities of the TG track! That's just appallingly bad form - snidey, puke inducing smarmy set of spanners.
Apart from Plato, I quite like him.

I cant believe you think 'I'm Jeremy Clarkson, you will suck up to me' show is actually any better than 5th gear, VBH, Plato and especially Tiff are by far better drivers than that t***pot who spat his dummy out of the pram because Top Gear was filmed near London and not near the Cotswolds wear he lives.
The reason they all buggered of to channel Five is because the BBC said that there would be no more Top Gear, and when 5th Gear came out decided to re-instate Top Gear. What bloody relevance has shooting a car with a tank got to do with day to day motoring (unless your in Iraq)
5th gear at times is crap but i'd rather watch that then bloody Top Gear, just to see Jeremy prance about like some peacock thinking he is some self proclaimed God!

I was going to suggest these points at the risk of being churlish........
I Guess nobody should be 'ripping' off the license fee payers hard earned attempting to parody JC offering.......WHATEVER....

It's not just about day-to-day motoring. Buy What Car? for that, if that's what you're into. TG is entertainment for petrolheads, not "which nondescript vehicle takes the fewest teaspoons of diesel to get your flat cap from A to B and all for under six grand".

I watched 5th Gear for the first time yesterday and although mildly entertained, I did cringe several times.
The naff and oh-so tiresome dig at TG by Tiff regarding the track being used, and the hammed up glances the other two gave to each other when he said it.
The whole sitting in the office, plugging in figures on to a scoreboard, thinking that because they are entering them on a computer makes it more professional than TG. At least TG has one professional driver who is testing each car, rather than 3 differing ones.
What are people's opinions on the 911S v 240R - Was it the result you were expecting?
I did think that the Exige would be a clear winner myself.

I would have thought the Exige would have won too, but maybe its more suited to higher speed bends -it has a lot of fancy additions designed to increase downforce, but wouldn't these only come into play at higher speed bends than that track seemed to feature.

I would not say shooting cars with a tank or having a c list celec race around a track in a crappy old Suzuki entertainment for petrolheads!!!!

I don't bat for the other side, but VBH is over-rated as eye candy!

Modern 911s seem to be extremely good "all rounders" and certainly the new ones alot more easier and forgiving to drive fast without the need to being 100% with the cornering or gearchanges. I feel the Exige is a bit more fussy, and must be driven in one particular manner to get the best out of it. Which would point to a driver issue (vbh a bad driver? she couldn't be...could she? ) or just the car doesn't suit that particular track.
