Question Which practice amp ?

Got an old crappy amp that I bought in a "combo deal" years ago with my guitar. Anyway, I've finally got sick of having to twiddle all the ***** to get it to work so I want a small, cheap and reliable amp for messing about on (I'm not at all good, so it doesn't need to be fancy).

Narrowed to down to either Marshall MG10CD or Peavey Backstage. Anyone got a recommendation????? (there are a couple of outsiders in the Roland Cube15 and Fender Frontman 15G but I thought I'd try to make it simple!)

Any advice / input greatly received.

I have borrowed a marshall MG 15 DFX off a mate and its great, can get them for under 100 quid easy and you can get some good sounds out of them. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...281453-7282813

I am getting a Vox AD15VT http://www.machinehead.co.uk/vox.php 4 amps down on that page, as for the money I haven't heard anything better (yet!!) my mate has the 30 watt one.

If you are into heavy stuff then a Line6 spider 2 might fit the bill! where abouts are you in the uk? its best to listen to them really.

imho its worth spending a few more quid and getting one of the ones i have mentioned as they all have built in effects which can be very useful, esp good sounding reverb on them all, and compression on the VOX.

ps the links are not the best prices, just to show you an example! though machine head is very competative with the VOX stuff it seems

my mate might be selling this MG 15DFX actually as he has now got that 30 watt VOX let me know if you might be interested.

An Orange Crush 10 can be had for about £60
Loud enough for the house and it also has a headphone socket
Also has 2 gain controls and a master volume - so many varied sounds can be had from clean to nicely distorted

reviews can be found here

My Marshall G15RCD is excellent. OK when just running an acoustic or loud enough to get Colin round.
