Default A quick costing question, any one any idea..??

HI,
Bit odd this one, i have been asked if i would be interested in going to London to re-decorate a one bedrrom flat for someone, i am not a decorator, but have done my own house, which this guy has seen, and he's happy with what i've done, it's like i say, a one bedroom flat, with seperate lounge, kitchen, bathroom, and a hallway with stairs of some descrption, there are also some new cupboards to be fitted int he kitchen.

The question.... how much do you think the job is worth, he's happy to cover parking fees, and fuel on top of the pay for the job..... answers on a postcard please.....

Just to add, i'm in deepest darkest Dorset, so have very little idea what the charges in London might be for such a job, i'm not after London rates, but i don't want to be taken for a mug.......again!

Cheers.

I should hav eadded, that it may well have skirting, architrave, and doors all glossed..... maybe even the handrail on the stairs etc......

if he likes your work that much, he'll pay a daily rate. Dont try and give a price for a job that you can't estimate.

Agreed, charge around a £100 a day plus expenses. Thats a little over the odds, but he wants YOU He know's the job will be done right 1st time.

He'll get a cheaper quote from 1 man bands (quality unknown and not that much cheaper) or more from a company.

Don't do yourself out. That way everyones happy

You'd only employ someone from a long way away if you thought you were getting it on the cheap.

Re-arrange the following in to a well known saying.
"pole a touch barge wouldn't it with I"

Thanks for the opinions, he's under the impression that he'd pay £300 a DAY for someone in london, and i'd be willing to do it for £12hr, but, i'd end up working 12hr days, to get it done sooner, and earn more,.... i'd be kipping in the flat for the duration aswell....

Just been and had a chat with him, and he really wants a bit more than i feel comfortable doing, but he's happy for me to do what i'm happy doing... and he'll sort the rest, he'd be doing it all himself had a mate of his not hit him side on, on his Ducatti 916, and smashed his lower leg into at least 50 pieces!!!!! he said the surgeon stopped counting at 50!!! OUCH!!!

If you need the money and don't mind living in the flat just do it.
