Default Anyone know where I can dispose of excess stock ?

Hi Guys and girls,

Somehow I have managed to get the rights to buy a companies surplus stock. Its all good stock, ie pristine unused, but I have an issue in the sheer number. How would I dispose of 15,000 items (ie at least 100 pallets) of stock.

I dont fancy fafing about on ebay, one here, one there, or even in bulk. Ideally I just want to do 1 sale and get rid of the stock. The stock is valued (even at heavily (ie 40% off retail) at approx £400,000)

Anyone know of any end of line type retailers that can cope with this amount of stock that consists of 2 different types of stock) and has the buying power to cough up almost £ 0.5 mill.

And yes they can have a VAT receipt

cheers

Stu

are you looking for questions? or answers..

prehaps you wernt the right person to take on the stock???

it would be helpfull if we knew what the goods were dairy retailers are hardly going to take on electrical goods..

another aspect to consider is although you have the goods, and technically the title is yours. what aftersales / warranty are you offering... because whoever you sell it to will want redress if the stock is nok..

As far as I know, you are going to have trouble finding a big company to cough up cash (depending on the product) most will want credit even if its cheap they will probaly want 3 to 6 months. If your selling in large quantitys like this its very difficult to move. I would reccomend breaking in to lots of 1 Pallet.

100 Pallets? = 100 auctions on ebay stating at a low price theres no reason why you wouldnt be able to sell the whole lot in 10 days IF it was cheap enough. Get pallet line to pick up and deliver, jobs done!

If the retail price is £10.00 then I would of thought the clearance price would be around £1.00 but this depends on many many factors. Condition, saleability, size, value, is it food/non food etc etc

stock (LIQUID)
noun {U}
a liquid used to add flavour to food and which is made by boiling meat or fish bones or vegetables in water:
- vegetable/beef/chicken stock

£4k / pallet sounds expensive.

There are companies who buy up overstocks, but they wont be interested in paying 60% of retail, more like 5 - 10% at most. I dont know what you paid for it, so it may be worth contacting some ( try Exchange & Mart ) as you may get back what you spent.

Ebay is a waste of time - have a look what wholesale lots sell for on there - next to nothing !

When ever I see anything like this it always makes me smile, as long as there are people thinking like this it means that they wont be selling on ebay

Which leaves me plenty of time and space to do it myself

I have in the past and will continue doing in the future been able to sell a 40ft HC (about 72 pallets/72 cubic metres) of stock in 7 days and have it either delivered or collected with in another 5 to 7 days.

if youve signed an NDA, you could be in a pickle....

how do you sell it on legitimatley?? at some point you have to disclose what is is... and if its that sensitive, you may find that only limited companys or outlets can use / want it..

your valuation sound way too high, banks, etc tend to value stock at 10% of cost, surplus deals often operate way lower than this if your buying the whole package.
