Talking Why is England so 5hite at snow?

It happens every year

It gets cold, global warming tree huggers shut up for a few days, local and national media babble on about how its the coldest winter either "since records began" or "In living memory". They threaten massive snow storms that actually equate to half an inch of snow on top of a mountain in the Highlands. The councils go mad with the gritters, everyone becomes a weather forecaster and can't wait to show off their extensive weather forecasting prowess by stating that it's cold because the wind is coming in from the north. Friends down the pub come in all wrapped up looking like they are part of Scotts' expedition to the north fackin pole announcing loudly how Bloody cold it is out there only to be told that "The news said................it's gonna be even colder tomorrow"

And all for what?

**** all that's what

The news papers tomorrow won't have headlines like "Met office ***** up again" or "Sorry we knowingly exaggerated in the name of sensationalism and there really wasn't anything else important to report on" or "You stupid fools, can't you remember us media folk whipping you all into a frenzie last year, oh and the year before and, oh.............. HA HA HA "

It's not really cold at the moment, it's just a little colder than it has been FACT
It's not going to be the coldest winter on record FACT
It isn't the start of a white December for the whole of Britain FACT
If you live anywhere apart from the highlands or North Wales, there will probably be no snow on xmas day FACT
Any snow that comes during December will not settle or will melt within a day to be replaced by the sun FACT
Hot Summers (remember those heatwaves the hottest since records began or was it the hottest summer for ten years ) Do not mean cold winters FACT
It's not fun driving in the snow unless you are properly equiped, have good experience of it or you have a huge space to mess about in. You have to concentrate more, your sphincter twitches like a ba5tard every 30 seconds and you get surrounded by fcukwits who think they can drive in the snow. FACT

Sorry

*Gets off of soapbox and takes a few deep icey cold breaths*

Cold out here innit?

You know it's true

Do your local tv and radio stations go into overdrive everytime the temperature drops a wee bit?

According to our local BBC TV service, we where due to have snow all afternoon. Instead its been sunny all bloody after noon and the wind has dropped to such a gentle breeze you would be hard pushed to fly a kite!

Cool

You don't know what cold is

if you want cold try being in the Falklands in the middle of winter and having to sleep in a bivi bag under a poncho whilst out on patrol now thats fecking cold. Having to stag on on top of a rocky outcrop in the worlds biggest natural wind tunnel whilst in the worst winter on record!!!

and if you want snow then just come over here you will get more than your sphincter can handle.

alternatively get yourself a set of winter tyres and go out and have fun in what snow you do have and realise whyt fun a four wheel drive car can be with proper shoes fitted. I guarantee your sphincter will not twitch half as much and you might actually enjoy yourselves

Totally agree! Here in somerset, we had about 1 inch of snow (now gone!) but we had schools close, people panicking etc-PATHETIC. Its embarassing how the people react in the UK to a p1ssy little bit of slush. Was over in New England in the US in january where they actually have proper snow and nobody over there gives a **** about the snow-they just get on with it and even the huge lorries still motor on through it.

A few years back in Finland, the temperatures dropped so badly, a w*rk colleague of mine found that his Volvo was frozen to the floor of his garage, with flat-spots on the tyres. It was so cold that his breath froze. Said it dropped to -40C. That said, it was dry-cold, so for some reason doesn't feel as miserable as it does over here at about -5C. Whenever he came over, he'd complain about the weather!

You think Scotland can cope???
The past 8 years I've been in Scotland they haven't, most of the UK comes to a grinding halt when a few flakes fall I'm afriad.

I agree that we do go a bit over the top on weather issues but today we had the first snow that properly settled in taunton since 1977!!!! About 2 inches in the town and 4 or 5 inches in the hills around

Quite exciting for us south-westerners that never see the stuff! And it's stll there now ie. not melted!
