Just back from a mild stint of Xmas shopping and the amount of people walking straight in to you, bashing you with push chairs, shopping bags etc

Combined with people reversing cars and not noticing small things like buses that just happen to be behind them

Or are we all just out growing the planet, becoming fat b@stards and squashing each other

I often find myself walking down Princes St, and it is ME who has to get out of the way of the maurading masses.

I hold a door open for someone, they walk straight through, and don't even say "thanks".

Once this has happened a few times, I end up treating them all with the disrespect they deserve

Its nothing to do with Lack of Spacial Awareness and Peripheral Vision, more to do with plain ignorance, look out for number one before looking out for others etc....

I used to and still do sometimes, but when you have had countless bouts of rudeness, ingratitude and plain ignorance shoved in your face, after a while it grinds your pleasant demanour down and makes you feel like being selfish like eveyone else.
so walk softly, avoid the dog c@@p on the pavement and carry a big stick


(my favourite trick is to see someone approaching on the pavement, who is obviously blinkered and unaware you are there. stay where you are, until they bump right into you and then when they look up surprised and are waiting for you to move, just stare them out and refuse to budge. fun every time )

also shoulder barging into pig ignorant t**ts also puts a smile on my face (in a non aggresive way of course .

Its just that they feel so important that they don't consider that they should give room to anyone else. Total lack of manners too.

You should see what happens to the disabled, they get knocked out of the way! I have developed a skill with the arm crutch now and they don't enjoy the trip!

I could write pages and pages on this issue - people are total morons and have no idea about what is around and about them. Put then in a metal box called a car and they are a million times worse!!

When I experience this situation in busy places I usually pretend to be metally derranged, mutter swearwords to myself repeatedly, move head in eaggerated twitches, looking out the corners of my eyes all the time, snorting back any snot ever now and again, dropping my jaw open on teh one side of my face. And walk with a slight limp.

Although come chritsmas shopping / Jamuary sales...the symptoms are usually for real

The best way around this is pretend to be texting someone on your phone, and walk straight. Everyone will jump out of the way of you!
