Default Settle an arguement at work for me.

Work went for a chinese last night, and one of the dishes came with Dried crispy seaweed....

What is this stuff and where'd it come from?

I said I believe its real seaweed from the sea, dried out and fried making it crispy to which a few people pulled their face, anyhow, someone has corrected them this morning and said dont be silly its like a cabbage vegetable...

So which is it?

Im probably wrong but surely it'd be called something else other than seaweed?

No you're wrong there is no e after the u in argument

I thought it was from the sea aswell, but i asked the guy next to me who is a foreign food expert and he corrected me!!!

Deep fried shredded cabbage with sugar and MSG.

The brown stuff on top is dried fish.

I threw a fit when I found out it was Cabbage and refused to pay for it. I mean, what's wrong with Seaweed? Cost's too much no doubt, so lets just use Cabbage and call it Seaweed, no one will mind.

Even had grilled dumplings from a Chinese restaurant?

They are poached for 20 minutes, then shallow fired in a wok and at no point does it see a grill
