Why is it some stuff (ready meals etc) are oven or microwave cookable yet other stuff states it can only be cooked in the oven. Why can't these things be bunged in the box too ??

Foil containers (obviously
). Food that isn't pre-cooked (i.e raw chicken or fish). Or frozen food that doesn't cook through evenly or food that goes soggy (i.e pastry).
Generally you can nuke anything in the mircowave as long as you ensure it is cooked through completely. But sometime the taste and texture can be affected (i.e chicken like rubber and king prawns shrunk to the size peanuts).
Most stuff you eat at your chain pubs comes freshly nuked out of a microwave courtesey of Brake Brothers Catering
