Hello Steve,
Get a price from an online company that has a retail outlet ie www.gultronics.co.uk then get John Lewis to price match.Advantage of this is youll get the same price with a free 5year warranty and free delivery.

Would not class that as an offer as they are now just selling it for the same price as online retailers.

You don't say what size you want but i nabbed an ex-display 19" Samsung Syncmaster 910MP LCD TV/Monitor. Not a dedicated LCD tv but i have it in our bedroom at the moment and can't fault the picture. Certainly a damn site better than the 14" CRT it replaced. It was on the bargain table in PC World for £249.95. Went through the till for £239.95 due to a mark on the base. Fairly good deal considering cheapest net price i found was +/- £300 plus delivery. 3 year Samsung warranty included.

Bargain in my opinion although my feeling is this is quite possibly one of the worst times of year for getting a 'real' bargain. My sister works in sales and Boxing Day/January Sales is lottery day every day for them.

Hello

Thank you for the replies. I am looking for a 32" one. I did buy a Philips 19" LCD monitor for my computer a few months ago from PC World. It was about £50 less than anywhere else. It amazes me that they are so high priced but occasionally have good bargains.

Too right Steve. I find bit of research goes a long way - my Mum taught me to shop around. I also bought some Creative speakers for my computer while in PCW yesterday. I shopped around a week or so back and they had them the cheapest at £69.99. Stuck them through the till with (sisters mates) staff discount for £62.99.

hi steve

got a 40 inch Sony Bravia yesterday for £2070 with free delivery and 6 months interest free (RRP £2400). The telly came out a few weeks ago and whipped the others in the latest what hi-fi review (including the philips that won 'product of the year in Nov). Sony are running an offer at the moment that gives you £200 cashback if you buy a tv / dvd recorder combo. I haven't got a dvd recorder so got one in the shop for £169, bringing the cost of the telly down to £2039 with the dvd recorder thrown in!

can't wait!

Oh and the firm is a local one called 'Plumbs' with branches across northern england. Had lots of kit from them in the past and are a top family firm with emphasis on good, old fashioned customer service with keen pricing!

andy!

Just bought the Loewe Concept 32" LCD from House Of Fraser. Currently £500 off plus another 10% off on the Fraser Card (just pay it off straight away). Also do 2 years 0%.

Incredible price for the set, has HDMI with HDCP too. The simple case design is not to everyone's taste, but with Loewe you know you're getting better quality then the average high street brands.

Thanks, that is a little too expensive though. I was looking for around £800.

im starting to get worried lol, the gf and i have our first house purchase to be completed early jan, and we have a big ish tv, although its not a flat screen - I wonder how she would react to the fact that the redecorating budget has been used on a flat screen tv.

I'm pushing to get a jacuzzi over a new kitchen lol.

As its snowing = no golf, so may as well go looking around the sales.

Thats an LCD rear projection television, not an LCD television. Its a nice set, I used to have an earlier model; but the Bravia LCDs, the V & W models especially, are much much nicer.

Mines actually the W because the company couldnt supply a V before Christmas, but its the same screen and driver boards. The only 'problem' that Ive had is that the screen is so large and clear that it shows the shortcomings of DVDs and digital television that I hadnt ever noticed before! High bandwidth DVB isnt bad, BBC1 and ITV1, but some of the lower bandwidth channels are close to unwatchable unless you watch from a another room!

If you were tempted to go for the dearer model then I can set your mind at rest too. The W costs £800 more and apart from a few gimmicks (illuminated 'Sony' logo and indicator lights on a clear glass panel) all you really get is a louder telly. Considering that most people have -or could buy twice over with the money spent- a reasonable AV amplifier, thatll sound better and be of more use this wouldnt be money well spent.

Go into Comet

Find the one you want, grab the youngest salesman you can find and tell them you want one....then tell him currys are selling it at (insert reasonable discounted price) and they will price match it as long as you say they have it in stock. The comet staff no longer receive commision on idividual sales, so dont care about knocking money off

We got a 32'' Phillips Hi Def with £400.00 off the sale RRP LOL

Try Robert Whyte. I've been looking at the Sony 40" LCD mentioned above and their 50" LCD rear projector, and Robert Whyte has the keenest prices I've seen (£2000 and £1200 respectively) and that includes free delivery and 5 year guarantee.

I'm pretty sure they must have a shop as they asked me to ring their retail store to discuss a query I'd emailed them.

Will John Lewis really price match against a website? The TV I am after is £500 less than JL on the gultronics website.

What TV are you after. JL wont match web prices but some comps have shops as well as web sales.
