Hi,
Doing a bit of work involving some maths and struggling on some simple rearranging;
Need to re-arrange the following formula to make P the subject of the formula;
Q=1000-30p.
When I rearrange it I do the following:
Q-1000=-30p
Q-1000/-30=p
(Q /-30)- 33.33=p
However, the book I am learning from gets
P= 33.33- 0.033Q
Huh? Where did the -0.033 come from? I can do the rest of the question but a little, ok highly, confused on this little bit.
Prove your mental ability and help me at the same time-it wil be a good day for the successful one!

swap over the p and the q so. Can also be seen as take Q from both sides and add 30P to both sides
30P = 1000 - Q
Divide all bits by 30
(30P / 30) = (1000 / 30) - (Q / 30)
solve all bits in brackets
P = 33.33333 - 0.033Q
30P = 1000 - Q
Divide all bits by 30
(30P / 30) = (1000 / 30) - (Q / 30)
solve all bits in brackets
P = 33.33333 - 0.033Q

Where you were going wrong was dividing your -1000 by -30. It looks like you disregarded one of the minus signs in this part of the calculation, otherwise your working out looks correct
