......Merry Christmas all.I hope you had a good 'un.
I'm going to organise a trackday for 2006 for the Stoke Scooby Crew and am looking for some info from anyone on here that may have arranged, or attended such an event.
I've looked on alot of websites but would prefer some first hand knowledge or experiences.
Best track near to the midlands area
Best time of year
Best insurance covering companies
etc etc etc......
All replies welcomed.
Many thanx.
Si.
ps:looking to involve at least a dozen cars.

For just 12 cars, you may as well just go to an organised event.
Goldtrack, RMA are good companies to use.
Best track in the Midlands would have to be Donington.
Insurance....nah, don't bother, just make sure you don't crash.

Id have to disagree over location; the best track in the Midlands has to be Cadwell Park full circuit. Donnington has more run off though; and you lose very little if you dont go on the full circuit (Donnington have a high noise limit on some days also; about 114dBA, which's f*cking loud!).
Oulton Park is also a beautiful circuit to drive, I have a strong family connection with the circuit though so I am biased and Tarporley is on the very very edge of the Midlands too...

I organise trackdays for the WYIOC (West Yorks) twice a year. We use www.rally-drive.com circuit at Blyton just south of Scnuthorpe. The track isn't the biggest (1 1/4 mile, 1m12s lap) or the best (potholes and abrasive surface) but is very well laid out to challenge the handling of a car and ability of its driver. Many professional racing teams use it for setting up their cars and training, so it ain't too bad. Best bit is the cost. We pay between £400-600 to hire it exclusively for the whole of a saturday, meaning 30 or so cars can have plenty of track time for around £20-30 each. I run it where everybody pays the venue directly, so their contact of sale is with them and covered by their insurance.
