and this was the message i got
What you have done is against ebays regulations. i am contacting them regarding this and you will inevitibly be banned.
have a good day, you will be hearing from me shortly

A bid may be retracted (cancelled) by the buyer in some cases if the retraction meets the requirements of our Bid Retraction policy. Note: There is no equivalent for bid retraction in Buy It Now listings. Once you've confirmed your purchase, you are obliged to pay the seller. There is also no equivalent for bid retraction for item listings using the Best Offer feature.
Whether you can retract your bid or not depends on the following factors:
Why you are retracting your bid;
When your bid was placed and when the listing ends.
You can retract a bid or a Best Offer for the following reasons:
You make a typographical error and enter the wrong bid amount. For instance, you bid £99.50 instead of £9.95. If this happens, enter the correct bid amount immediately after you retract your bid. If you do not place another bid, the retraction will be in violation of eBay's policy and could result in your suspension. Please review the retraction guidelines if you need to retract your bid.
The description of an item you have bid on changed significantly after you placed your bid.
You cannot contact the seller. This means that you tried to call the seller, but their phone number doesn't work, or that you have tried emailing a message to the seller and it comes back undeliverable.
I dont see "I found it cheaper elsewhere" as a valid excuse, the seller is right to be annoyed.

I'd agree with Jaybird-UK - it's you that's the pillock....
If you want to bid on an item and are prepared to pay X for it, then bid X for it. Ebay even gives you a 'Do you really want to do this?" chance... and you obviously did.
You can't then decide that you don't want that bid, or have seen it cheaper elsewhere or whatever. You should have done the right and proper thing and left the auction to run. If you were outbid, then fine - but if you'd won at the price you stated then you should have completed the auction and paid for it.
It's people like YOU that annoy genuine and honest eBay users - not the seller.

I dont blame the seller. You should be sure of what you are doing before you bid. You can't retract just because you have decided it does not suit you. A bid is a contract.

its just instinct to want to buy something thats cheaper, im sure a lot of people would do the same without thinkig about it.
email him back with something snotty and let him know he's all over the internet for been a kn*b! Does sound like hes been bidding against himself, otherwise he wouldnt be bothered as its still sold and for more then what you had bid.

I get people asking me to cancel their bid occasionally but i just leave them as they tend to get outbid anyway.
If they know how to cancel the bid themselves then so be it but i won't do it for them and i also won't go crying to ebay if they do
I have never canceled my own bid on anything and never would ONLY bid if you are sure and stop looking for cheaper ones you ALWAYS find one somewhere LOL
