Such a personal thing, that you're best going round the shops, finding one you like, and then buying it online.

Some like it hard, some like it soft, some like it bouncy, some like it firm.

Oh, and to complicate things further, it is now thought by the medical profession that a firm mattress is NOT necessarily the best thing for a bad back.

We tried a few and they do vary , one was £800.00 and it wasn't as comfy as the one we bought, also my chiropractor recommends them and i haven't slept as well in years , cant recommend it highly enough
Beware though you wont want to get out of bed in a morning

Good call.

If you can't run to e Tempur mattress then these are a good option. Yoy can also get memory foam 'toppers' which get good press as well. Loads on ebay for sale.

Cheers

We bought a Viscose based matress last year. Went for one over springs rather than solid viscose as we found it more comfortable. I have to say it has been excellent although rather more than you wish to pay.

I can't stress enough that you actually go and try the matress before you buy and also take in to account the base you will be putting it on, i.e. is it sprung or solid.

Mammary foam all the way, it's double uber awesome!

I really had to grit my teeth when we got ours cos of the price but I can't recommend spending the extra enough. Coincidentally, Sal's back pain has cleared up since we got it and she wanted a firm mattress... In fact, we liked it so much we had to get a topper to take with us when we stay away from home!

bought a £65 bed from the local trade warehouse/cash and carry thing
i bought a cheap £80 mattress from the local bedshop just to get me on my way when i moved out from my parents house

its not that good, as expected, i have been wondering weather or not i should put a memory foam mattress topper thing on it, or save the cash and just buy a better mattress??

i can sleep on the thing and not wake up with aches and pains, it just feels a bit springy and crap when you move around
