Default Is Stone Island the new Chav Label????

I have always liked the Stone Island brand and have a few garments, mainly jumpers and jackets, i have paid a lot of money for these clothes and find they are a quality brand.
The thing is that lately a lot of young chavs have been commenting on them, such as nice jacket mate, how much etc. Then you have to watch them in their wee gangs as they might follow you to jump you for your clothes.

Is this brand becoming more available to chavs like the early scoobies that we know are now available to the Max power mob.

Before the do gooders start, i do go to football matches, but am no casual.
i just like designer gear, is there any other labels that you guys think the chavs are affording these days.

Thanks for the input.

Mac.

thing is with the Stone Island stuff... its always had the 'tribal/footy hooligan' tag ( as it was worn by a LOT of Casual /hooli's) its now seen as a bit of a 'status' symbol by these neanderthal numpties... shame, cos i used to wear it a lot , too.. seem to be always trying to stay one step ahead of the chavs in the fashion stakes, getting rid just before 'they ' catch on with it.....

I always thought it was a chav-brand too.

IMO Chav brands now (usually fake stuff from market/ebay):

- Burberry (of course!)
- Stone Island
- Ralph Lauren
- Calvin Klein
- Armani (see loads of chavs in fake Armani stuff now, ebay flooded with it)
- Any sportswear brands, ie Nike, Reebok, Kappa

None Chav brands:

- Hugo Boss
- Diesel
- Ted Baker
- Peter Werth

Remember the hoody's with the rainbow writing across the front and the later one being the Tommy sports ones, PMSL.

I always thought Stone Island and CP Co were the label of choice for the football fan / bother boy. Lacoste too, and the old Burberry Cap.

Doesn't affect whether or not I'd wear it, but ten years ago this was the case, the "hard lads" where I grew up would sport Stone Island as a matter of course.

Lol, makes me laugh how some people, not aimed at you by the way, think that wearing a brand of hooligan clothing makes them hard, always made me chuckle.

Also, add Firetrap, Etienne Ozeki, Paul Smith and Fake London Genius to that list of 'non-chav' clobber.

yup .. it was always the older blokes wearing that gear you had to be 'wary' of,.. the younger upstarts were normally 2nd generation/younger brothers etc tagging onto shirt tails... much the same as the skins of the late 70's early 80's the took the 'look ' of the original 69'skins and 'B@st@rdised' it......

Paul Smith is defo non-chav, but anyone remember years back there were moody wool jumpers with Paul Smith in four inch writing across the chest, completely un Paul Smith. Made me laugh when Brian Harvey had one on at some point and the company came out and said they'd never made anything like that. Give a chav a bit of moolah like and ill still 'av moody gear!

Stone island really has lost the plot now. See loads at the football in those fake yellow stripe jackets and sweatshirts. The old stuff still looks good though, just unbutton the badge and sell it on e-bay. Often people will pay £10/15 just for the genuine badge to stick on their snide copies.

Disagree about Peter Werth though, that is a chav brand.

CP is still whats it all about and has been for a number of years.

Any "obvious" designer item with large logo/pattern/badge etc is going to look cack. Just look at Louie Vuitton bags. Mate of the missus spent £500 on three years ago. Great move!!

I have 2 £400 stone island jackets and 3 £175 SI jumpers.

Wouldn't consider myself a chav/pikey especially forking out these kind of prices for clothing!

Always thought of it as a top brand name!

Got plenty prada/gucci/hugo boss/diesel stuff also, although i stopped wearing burberry a few years ago!

I dont know how people can brand someone a chav when they are dressed head to toe in expensive clothing but yet the pikey that buys £10 george jeans from asda, cheap trainers and wooly cardigans aren't.

This chav business has gone too far! Chav to me means pikey/scrounger/dole person/troublesome/druggie/thief kind of person, not someone that can afford and spends hundreds of pounds on clothing!

SI has been associated with football hooligans hence why people think its a chav brand!

Mac.

Don't be ashamed!!

I used to slag off my mate for wearing it (his wardrobe is mostly SI). He then pointed out that it is made by people on decent wages (not on par with sweatshops in the far east ), quality clothing, and is actually worth the hundreds of pounds paid for it etc. Turned my view around completely.

Don't let the ****/Fred Perry/Henry Lloyd brigade slag you off, they're cheap and nasty My uncle uses them as his working t-shirts (Glazier)

Just think of the chavs who compliment you as being in good taste. Many people from dfferent walks of life do like similar things, you know

lol@ "£400 jackets and £175 jumpers" Did you know some people leave the price tags on as well?

That gimp who won the lottery and does banger racing in his garden is a stone island fan and he's the chav king.
