Nearly two years now and I haven't thought about smoking for as long as I can remember.

Keep it up - and if you can focus on new things you can do instead of smoking as opposed to thinking about how long you have not smoked it will be a lot easier with a MUCH higher chance of success. It might sound like mumbo jumbo, which it is, but it does work it takes your mind off the possibility of a cigarette

Good luck!

Off them 4 years now. Day 5 is the hardest, cos the last dregs of nicotine are dying in your body. It gets easier every day after that. Don't be tempted to have just one, cos you basically start from scratch every time you feed the nicotine beast

Good luck mate 12 months now and going strong!

Top tip put the money you would have spent in a jar and spend the lot at the end of the month on your car, it gives you an incentive.

Thumbs up

Last cigarette was 9th April 2005......

Wish I'd stopped sooner...waste of health, time and money

Easy once you get over the first few months

Keep it up

If you've met mark at lateral... when he used to smoke it was 'a lot' a day.. to nothing.. just like that.. so If he can do it anyone can.. especially when dealing with customers like me!!

He seems to be addicted to chewing gum now though!!

Stick with it Big S, 9 years for me now and have never regretted it. You will suddenly find you have a lot of cash that you don't expect either.

When you want to stop it's easy! Part Allen Carr and part wanting to stop.

I've lost track of when I stopped, as that is not important anymore because I won't devote any more of life thinking about smoking!

I really wish I'd done it sooner, but live and learn!

Good luck, keep it up and remember, there is no such thing as "just one cigarette"

3 days for me now as well, I never really planned it. I just thought i'd see how long I can go without one.

I haven't felt a craving until today. And from 20 a day, nearly every day, for the past 12 years I don't think that's too bad. Trying to break the habit is the worst part for me. I keep saying to myself "i'll just finish this and then i'll have a smoke"

The first big test for me will come tonight when I go back to work. All i've done since new year was sit around the house. I'm back at work in a few hours time where i'm used to having a smoke every hour, on the hour. Plus as soon as I get in the car, etc

Yep, but no use crying about it now. We all spend our money on something

Of course - I've never seen the fascination in smoking, so it's hard for me to relate.

Oh, and good luck to all of you trying to kick it.

I gave up 12 years ago after being a heavy smoker.

The first three weeks are the worst. After that just make sure you don't lapse on Holiday, or after a couple of drinks.

I remember opening a locker at work after a couple of weeks of non smoking and all the stuff in the locker still stunk of smoke. I'd never noticed it before. If you smoke you smell horrible. Your clothes stink, your breath stinks and the worst thing is you don't know until you give up.

If you want to give up you can do it. You might be a bit grumpy at first though ....
