Default DVD recorder or HD recorder?

I have no Sky+ or DVD recorder OR video.

I'd like to now record from the Tv/FreeView.
what DVD recorder or Hard Drive could i go for to record and playback on my system?

i do have a .... SAMSUNG LCD LW32A33W Tv
to a PHILIPS DTR320 freeview box to my Denon DHT-500SD surrround sound 'all in one' DVD player.

My Tv does have HDMi... (or theres also DVI on it too, not sure what that is tho) so would like to start to use that as a connection.
or do you recommend another option?

can i do this on a budget without spending a shed load?

Phil

What's your budget Phil?

When I've been looking recently, the only HDMI equiped recorders I've seen are in the £500 range. Happy to be proved wrong though.

The Sony RDR-HXD910 is a DVD & HD recorder and that's £600+ IIRC. There's an LG around £490 too.
