With Ray Winston playing Mr Todd. What did you lot think because I thought it was a really good bit of TV. Finally the BBC have shown something decent. Really was impressed with Winston's acting allways have been impressed with his acting considering how much of a London Geeza he comes across as.
Jonathan Ross interviewed him on his show just before Xmas and he was very funny, thought he was going to give wossy "a dry slap" at one point lol.

I watched it and thought it was very good. The woman playing Mrs Lovett had a funny accent though, a bit Jamie Oliver "Mockney".....
Was very graphic and I did cringe alot, but I couldn't take my eyes off the screen! I love the Beeb anyway, but this was an exceptional piece of TV for a boring Tuesday night.

Classic!
Every time Mr Todd sent Tobias out on an errand you just knew there was going to be another shower of claret.
Winstone's brilliant so this was a no-brainer for me.
Cheers

I enjoyed it too, although I must admit I missed a little bit of it in the middle because I was doing something else at the time. Have to look out for the repeat and watch it again without interruption.

After watching this excellent programme, I looked up the real story of Sweeney Todd on crimelibrary.com. The programme actually followed a few genuine facts of the case, but sadly was more fiction than fact. Probably because the real story would have been far too gruesome.

I actually thought it was pretty boring. I made it to the end but if there had been something else on I would probably have turned over.
I don't think it was too challenging a role for Ray either. He hardly said a bloody word.

just what i did- and the read was a lot better than the TV show!
it was too short for me - just skimmed the surface and the stuff they made up didnt add to the story at all.
