Default Parkers guide / Focus Value

I have a car locally that looks very well looked after, the spec is as follows...

Special Edition 3 Door Ford Focus Collection with 38,900 miles, X Reg 2000, Silver, FFSH, MOT Feb 06, Factory Fit Alarm/Immobiliser with Central Locking, 15“ Alloys. Special Edition Ford colour keyed Body Kit, plus chrome Exhaust, High level Special Edition Rear Spoiler with brake light incorporated & Special Edition Sport Seats. Electric Heated Front Windscreen, Air Con, Sunroof, Remote Boot Release, Switchable Traction Control, Disk brakes front & rear, ABS, Front & Rear Fog Lights, Electric Mirrors/Windows, Ford CD Player. I also have the Original Ford Black Binder with all manuals.

The interior is totally unmarked & spotlessly clean. The exterior of the car is also in excellent condition. I have found this car to be both reliable & comfortable. I am selling it as we now need a bigger family car. I will be putting a new MOT on the car prior to it being sold.

------------------

I have seen pictures and the car looks mint.

The asking price is 5k, parkers guide reckons that the car is valued at 3.3k private good.

Is this way over priced or is parkers having a laugh.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

No comment on the particular car, but having bought a car recently, Parkers values were higher for trade in than franchised dealers were charging, difference between real trade in prices and Parkers could be £4k different. Glass also seemed high as well.

Thats a good price IMO, and a great car.

We have a 2000 W 3dr Focus, same mileage but not as good spec. Paid £7k for ours in Sept 2003, so reckon its worth £4k at the moment looking on the trader website.

I reckon you would get it for £4.5k.

I have offered 4.5 for it and the best bit yet is that he lives about 5 minutes away from me. I left him my number to see if he is interested.

Personally if I had a car up for 5k and someone had offered me 4.5k the very least I would do would be to get him to come and have a look at it.

He said he wanted high 4s for the car....

We shall see.

Thanks for the replies.

A friend paid 5k for a very similar spec car from a dealer about 8/9 months ago now.

I'd say this is worth 4k private sale, I'm assuming it is private from the sounds of it.

Parkers sounds low, I'd take it for £3300!

I had one of those a few years back, bought it new in 2001 & played around with it a little. Kept if for 2 an a half years & traded it in for a RS
Handling was superb for what it was & looked great
