Help me value my Number Plate
As I am considering selling my beloved 993Twin Turbo, I have the car specific Number Plate which I want to advertise separately. I have no idea what to ask for it. Any realistic ideas, guys?!

How much you selling the car for?? I might be interested if it's RHD
The only 993 I would ever consider would be a Turbo. Other than that I'd go for a 996.

Cant understand why you'd spend that much on a car, then put a 'DVLA £250 choose your own letters' bargain bin plate on it ????
Spend a couple of grand and get a proper plate related to your name so you can keep it - you can get plates like 34 DM for around £3000.
I'd say you'd be lucky to sell it for much more than the transfer costs TBH, you never get much for plates unless they properly spell things without having to modify them that much.

Fantastic Car !
The plate however just detracts from the car and isnt worth much, dont know how many people would want it correctly spaced and illegally spaced it is just asking for a pull.

Closest thing i've seen to a good version of this plate was on a series 2 escort turbo at Donnington. He had .......T11 RBO........ IMHO that plate was probably worth alot more than the car to the right person.

I thinks its a false economy, you wont get as much for the car with that plate, your better off taking the plate off and asking the DVLA for a proper one.
A plate like "911 T" would be cool, but a mumble jumble of letters, numbers, tape and screws just looks..........

... come on guys, it aint that bad, it only has 1 prefix wrong and thats the G, Id rather spend £250 on a plate than £3000 if I could get away with it.

Thanks for all the responses. At least the consensus is that it is pretty worthless. I just wanted to know rather than just leave it on the car when I sell it.
I may even keep the car ( as I really love it) but it is garaging space that gives me the problem. I benefitted hugely from the flotation of our company recently and want to get a late 360 Ferarri amd an everyday car with 4 seats such as an M5 or new RS4/M3. If I do that the Porsche will not get the use it deserves.

With plates it comes down to what you are willing to pay.

There is such plate snobbery in online car forums
I have S200 OLB on my S2000 and it is spaced and written as S2000 LB. I've had no problems from the police and I expect this is mainly because it would be easy as hell to spot me, report me and find me. The plate looks much better than SK03 TTR or some irrelevant junk like that and I got it for free with the car.
When people ask what LB stands for I tell them 'Lazy B@stard' which really fits my personality
I can sort of see the argument that if you have a 911 then you can afford a grand for a proper plate but its still better looking as G11 TBO than a normal plate. Not keen on the different font though.

Re my £3K for a decent plate post - place to check is not the dealers websites, but the DVLA auctions they have every couple of months ( there is a link on their website somewhere ) - I was looking at 42MF and it had a reserve of £2900 on it, they also had a link to show what past plates had sold for and average for one with two numbers seems about £4K
They've got 74MD in the next sale with a reserive of £3K on it ( 65 MD sold last year for £3600.
Obviously some plates will get bid up to higher prices, but you can often get a bargain if nobody else is that interested in the one you're after
Most of these dealers seem to be selling other peoples plates on commission, and advertise them at what the customer would WANT to get for the plate, not what it will actually sell for.
