Shouldn't they be cheap?
Was thinking of getting one for the G/F but the ones on fleabay are as expensive as the nano's. So what's the point in getting a mini??? What crap value.

The Mini holds more songs than the Nano and less likely to break. But more light weight than the 20gb and up. If you do get a mini make sure you get a 6gb as the battery lasts longer.
My son had one but only the mini 4gh untill hubby soaked it and he loved it.

Drac,
I agree with you here, it's a bit silly! The mini is, and has been, obselete, since the Nano came out, but there seems to be no real price drop, in fact, a store round here is still selling the mini for $249 for the 4GB version, which is the starting price for the 2GB Nano, with the 4GB Nano being $299.
I guess people still want them, maybe it's the colors, possibly the capacity side of thing, but as you can get a 4GB nano for a little more than the same mini, I'd probably go for the nano.
Having said that, if you want an iPod then, from a price per megabyte viewpoint, the larger photo/video ipods make a lot more sense. the 60GB Video is $499, and the 30GB video is $379, so, yes, a hundred or two more, but way more storage space.
As for batteries, not an issue as they can be replaced fairly easilly. Just changed the battery in my 4th Gen iPod (for a 900mAh version from newertech) as the old one was not holding a charge.

I've already a 4th gen 60GB. About £100 max is what I want to pay for a small capacity mp3 player for the missus. Given the nano's coming out, I thought a mini could be had. Apparently not. The 4GB mini's are as much as the 4GB nanos!! The nanos are smaller, have colour and are solid state (the minis are hdds?) so why buy a mini, I'll never know. Guess I'll look for other, non ipods.
