The wife does this and really rates the service. Says that it is far easier to set up a big sale of books than with eBay - not nearly as much faffing around. She's got rid of about 20-30 books no problem. They really don't sell on ebay very easily. The benefit of Amazon is that the books stay up for a month or two, and then you can just relist at a lower price if you still havn't sold.

Simply take a look at all the other sellers around who are selling the same books, and pick a fair price. Undercut them slightly and you've got a very high chance of a sale. Note that everyone has to use the same standard postage cost so no fiddling of prices, ebay style.

Don't expect feedback from every sale, as there's no feedback system for buyers so none of the "you pat my back, I'll pat yours' ebay feedback style.
Make sure you only sell books in good condition. I'd never buy off someone that has feedback of selling tatty books, even if it was just the one.

HTH!

We've bought and sold our series of 24 DVDs through the used section. Cant fault it so far. Can take up to 2 weeks to get the cash in your account though.

They take a pretty big cut of the sale price!

Been a couple of years since I last sold a book on Amazon, but Im sure they take something like 15-20%.

I think my missis just sends regular 1st class unless it's pricey, in which case add 50p to make it recorded. Thinking is that pondlife scammers don't read books, so they're on ebay not amazon! We generally sell non-fiction. Not sure how good it is for chart paperbacks and the like!

As for the Amazon cut, our only options are to
1) keep the books (no room)
2) sell thru amazon and get some money for them
3) give to charity shop (if doesn't sell through amazon, or for all cheapy £5 fiction books)

If they're 1st editions worth something ebay 'em - big buyers WILL COME! ..Just make sure you use the 'starting bid' to set a realistic minimum price and ONLY accept paypal from a verified UK or USA paypal address...

If it's just a pile of miscellaneous old shabba give em to a charity shop - They could make £50 to your £20...you get out of all that postal ball ache and get the bonus of having done something wonderful
