might seem odd but have you oiled the wood??
are you using it a centrally heated house??
leave a cup of water in the room to evaporate and restore the humidity
thye woods dried out

Hi mart, thanks for the advice m8, yes we have central heating but it's only a week old. Not sure about oiling the wood as it might **** up the warranty. I hope this isnt a "feature" of the damn thing
