Tha only way to be sure is to send them Special Delivery, and that costs a MINIMUM of £3.75 IIRC.

They are taking the p*ss, I agree.

I've lost a special delivery before, don't think it guarantees anything except some extra money if you make a claim against them.

The last urgent letter I sent was recorded delivery. It cost me 70p, with a guarantee to be delivered before 1pm the following day. I was given a web address to check on the time it was delivered so I checked and it was signed for at the other end at 12.45pm. Couldn't fault it.

Erm... cant really understand this - you chose to send the letter by a service which has a 'general' delivery time of 1-2 days, but isnt guaranteed and can take up to 5 working days, as the PO correctly told you.

They have a service which is guaranteed next day, but you chose not to use this, so how are they taking the pi55 ??

I was told it was 1-2 day service. thats fine it was in the end.

i was also told it was signed for service. this did not happen and the Royal Mail are still saying it's missing. this was delivered on tuesday and not signed for. i just want o know if i can get any money out of it. I have payed for a service that i have not received...

Yes if it has been delivered with no one bothering to get someone to sign for it, there is no proof it has been delivered (as you are finding on the web****e)

So, go to the post office and get a claim form. Put in a claim for it being lost.
Up to £30 per 1st class recorded item.

Winge and moan for nothing and then commit fraud. Glad I don't have to deal with the 'great' british public.
