I was at a wedding the other day and this guy told me (who lives in the countryside) that Beagles used for hunting when aged around four are killed and then fed back to the other dogs, I am not an animal rights activist but found this quite disturbing which is funny because I can cope with a fox getting ripped to bits.

I thought that too.... (Hence putting 2005 in my post, make sure everybody knew it was this year) they gathered outside the Town Hall and council offices as they do every year.

Horses too and anything else the hunt kennel will take. I don't see the problem. They're not being slaughtered specifically to feed the pack; they're just end of life.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...

I can imagine it being an emotive area as most people see dogs as pets. However, these are NOT pets, they are working animals (like cows, pigs, sheep etc.) and no-one batters an eyelid when they are killed as they've reached the end of their useful life.
Obviously the ban has effectively made all of these dogs redundant and therefore at the end of their useful life so they'll get killed.

I know what a Beagle looks like thanks, a hound is typically taller than the average Beagle. I know my dogs fairly well and there were plenty of Beagles running around loose on that day.

By the way, a Beagle is a hound.

Beagles are used for Beagling, like fox hunting but they hunt for hares with a pack of dogs - the hunt followers being on foot rather than on horseback. I worked on a farm at weekends when I was at scholl so I saw a lot of Beagle hunts while I was there.
