You were most likely caught on CCTV or reported by someone close enough to see your number plate.

just pisses me off where they said dangerous driving and racing out a public highway on xxxxx, xxxxx and xxxxx road... as if i'd been racing down 3 different roads instead fo just a 10sec blast down a road.

It is a serious offence, which needs to be taken seriously. Dont reply to the letter/ nip until you have sort legal advice from a specialist motoring law firm.
Pryce Woodrow
Turner Coulston ( john Josephs)
There are others listed on the ABD website.
It is quite difficult to get a conviction for DD but the consequences are quite dire if you are found guilty ( a ban or possibly custodial, but unlikely)

As Andy has pointed out there is only a limited amount of advice which can be given on here and he has given it. With that in mind I will restrict my advice to two points, if you follow the first point then you will not require the second point but if you ignore the first point then you will need to keep the second point in mind for several years:
1) Get a good motoring solicitor, not just any bloke but someone who specialises in all things motoring. This will not come cheap by any means and you want to count on several thousand quid minimum for a not guilty.
2) If you drop your soap never, ever, bend over to pick it up.

I wonder if the guy who was telling us about the underground racing on here the other day might have something to do with reveiling the venue. He was quite happy to tell a 50,000 member forum which has policemen amongst its membership where it was .....
Personally If you did it, which it sounds like you did you're gonna have to take whats coming to you like a man

I know i am going to sound old and boring, but if you really want a drag race go to Santa Pod.
There was a thread on here a week or two ago about two cars racing and one of the drivers crashed and died. The driver of the other car was then jailed for 5 years, for causing death by dangerous driving.
A lot of us like seeing what our cars can do, but if that Skyline had crashed you could have been looking at a lot worse than points or a ban.
Is it worth taking the chance?
(And you'll also look a prat if you lose the race anyway!!!)

I`m sorry, but racing on public roads or a trading estate is just silly and you deserve everything coming to you.
There`s a time and place for racing, that wasn`t one of them.

to the "don't do it" brigade. You shouldn't of course, but we all have.
You are not obligated to sign the letter. You've almost certainly been reported by a member of the public. Personally, I'd edit the incriminating parts of your post and ask advice regards this type of letter, in isolation. EG. "If you receive a letter saying.......what does this mean, what are the implications" someone will know.

Good luck and did you win?

It is probably a nip requesting the registered keeper nominate the driver under sec172 powers. He should seek specialist help before filling in or contacting the police.

Just deny all knowledge of it. The onus is on the court to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that you did it. Even if they have video evidence, it's very unlikely they'd get a clear shot of your face. Just say your car must have been cloned. (remove any distinguishing stickers etc) There's a lot of it about you know.
