i'd forgotten about these http://www.roswellrods.com/ until i was watching the 100th episode of 24 last night and lo and behold at 45 mins in a rod went flying by as the president had just finished signing a treaty with the russian president , i slowed it down on sky+ and it was one of these rods , what the hell are they ??

They are quirks of video and photographic footage. Usually some insect or such caught in the bright lights.

I remember seeing a programme about them where one captured on video was estimated at 150 feet in length!
