Thats the thing, once they had the money where the hell did they think they were going to keep it? And how do they intend to spend it or take it abroad with them? Laundering £25m+ will be very difficult and take a lot of time and resources so they wont be spending much of it in a hurry unless they want to get caught.
And yes 40 years looking over your shoulder even if your in Brazil always wondering if someone is trying to do a Ronnie Biggs on you.

Just read this. Used to drive past the place every week when I was a lad and we went shopping at Sainsburys. Always wondered how long it'd take before someone knocked over the place, and given the number of chavs in Tonbridge am suprised they hadn't tried it before, then again, I don't think a max powered nova/impreza would have got through the gates

More likely the money will be going to fund organised crime and / or terrorism somewhere.
Like they said after the Belfast robbery, they took too much........

I agree I am sure that holding someone hostage at gunpoint is not really that brilliant.
I am sure that once STi04 has his own kids he might not think it would be brilliant when some fake copper holds a gun to their heads.
And for all those who think this is a victimless crime who also happen to bitch about insurance prices...the £40m will reappear in a bunch of your policies over the next eighteen months

No, not much fun at all!
I once did some interviews and filmed the victims of this sort of crime. Some shrugged it off but for most it changed their lives, they felt depressed and often not safe in their own homes/out on the street. Nearly all had to seek psychiatric help for PTSD.
I listened to one guy recounting how they forced his wife in the boot of a car and poured petrol over it then lit a match to show just how serious they where!
He had to stop at this point as he broke down in tears.

it wasn't said on the new's last night that it was gunpoint. For all the money in the world i wouldn't want my family held at gun point.
It's clever how they planned it but not "cool".
I still wonder how they hell they are going to use the money... where thre going to put it. it was said that it is 42 stories high!! thats a lot of cash!

I feel sympathy for those involved and hope the couselling and compensation helps them to recover. That aside, what a fecking heist!!!!!
£25mil + , the largest theft recorded in GB (possibly Europe), no one physically hurt and conducted, by all accounts, with military precision. I ought to be outraged, but I actually find it rather exciting
.
'tis amusing how the Police keep insisting that it was "brutal" and "terrifying" for those involved. I'm sure it was, but the cynic in me can't help thinking that Police would have wished that maybe there were one or two minor physical injuries, to quash the kind of quasi-admiration seen on these boards and in the boozer and playground.
I wonder what the thieves are up to right now; fascinating.

Well planned and executed...... So far...
Like you say, it's what you do with 25 mil now that will make or break the heist.
The first part wouldn't have been planned on the back of a *** packet, so I expect they have some idea how to get away with it, otherwise why bother?
Good lads for not filling anyone with lead anyway.![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I would have thought the 7.5 tonner would have gone down the road on its axles mind, assuming it has a tail lift it only has a 3 tonne approx load limit.

The way public opinion is going on this it won't be long before the authorities start suggesting it's been carried out to fund terrorism. Interesting to think of the crack PR team working through the media to sway the masses.
"Jenny, leak it to the Sun that they are Al-Qeada extremists and that the profits will be used to bomb the Lake District. Think of all those fluffy sheep, newly flowering daffodills and dedicated ramblers that will be brutally ripped from their mortal coil. Also, don't forget that we believe the technical wizz practices paedphilia, the getaway driver is a fox hunter and that he overtook in his BMW without indicating
. Actually Jenny, leave out the BMW bit....we don't want to overkill..."

Reckon it wont be long before some if not all are caught - got to be an inside job to know a) all the details about the security bloke and b) there was going to be that much money there at the time ( one news report said there wasnt usually that much stored there.
Plus, it wont be scallies, it'll be organised crime who did it - and it wont be long before they either start boasting or spending ( remember that most people who choose crime as a career its generally because they dont have the mental ability to work on Tescos checkout ).
I reckon give it a month and most of the money will be recovered, and most of the thieves caught.
And yes, it was a bonus nobody was physically harmed, but those kids and the blokes wife ( assuming she wasnt in on it ) must have been terrified.

My thoughts
Agree about the inside job theory.
From the limited information - we the public have.
Would say some of them might have a millitary background. Down to the planning and execution. Would also expect some of them to have rather good surveillance skills-training. So (unusually) would not say they were thick at all.
If they planned and executed this so well then it follows they may have an equally sophisticated way of laundering the money. However as already mentioned thats alot of money to get into the system without being noticed.
