Red face Cameras to be used to catch mobile users...

Light the blue touch paper...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/transport/...725229,00.html

"He argues that automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology should be applied in new ways to help defray costs of cameras and to catch offenders. "One of the good things about ANPR is that people are often multiple offenders so it would provide useful intelligence," he said. "Those responsible for 7/7 got to Luton station by car.""

....and stand well back!

well the did plough 92million quid back into road safety so what is the problem? perhapes if they ploughed 113 million quid back into road safety less people would object.

Plus do the government pay tax on all this profit they are making

Soon there will be no need for the police whatsoever, i mean what can they do that cameras cannot

Cameras are the only way forward - they are the (our) future.

Police, replaced with a traffic warden type person who collects fines and marches those caught of serious offences straight to prison. The offenders are given a copy of the tape and the sentence is pronounced.

This thick-**** out-of-touch, inept, corrupt government just see and hear what they want and that is rarely the real thing.

Cameras should be there to assist - we still need more cops and more cops out on the beat and out in cars and not tied up in PC red tape by stupid career minded politicians and top cops

A spokeswoman for Liberty said increasing the use of cameras to catch drivers breaking the law would not be a curb on their civil liberties.
Well, that's a suprise considering I've just seen the director of Liberty (that ghastly Chakrabahti woman) say on TV cars are evil, dangerous creations!

Talk about Liberty picking and choosing the civil liberties they want to protest about!

"Repeat offenders".... It's not an offence to carry a rucksack to the train station is it? If it were, I'm sure the universities would be empty of students.

I hardly think that the suicide bombers are going to fall into the "repeat offender" bracket either.

Another revenue raising, tin pot, little Hitler. No better than the average jumped up, ****-ant, self important, jobsworth Parkie, really (only the jumped up self important ones).

with an open admission that it will generate revenue, what does it tell you about our incumbent mob!!!

we are on the slippery slope to being totally controlled by big brother,

how long before the ****** squads are formed, implants at birth, barcodes on the wrist

little by little our freedoms are being eroded, not long before we become numbers

I hardly ever see a copper in my town any more, and the copshop shuts in the evening so you have to phone for a copper in a panda who covers an immense area.

Funny though that whenever there is an occasion which involves our magnificent leaders, the place is shoulder to shoulder with coppers!
