"Well-behaved youngsters are to be rewarded with vouchers to spend on sport and leisure."
"All 13 to 19-year-olds will be given the cards, entitling them to spend £12 a month in better-off areas and £25 in more disadvantaged areas on local sporting and other facilities."
"The Times said Mr Brown would announce a total of £115 million is to be handed out to young people's groups over the next two years to be spent on activities in their areas"
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770
Another example of throwing money at something in the hope that it will fix all of our social problems.
I've worked from the age of 14 (paper round, as soon as it was legal to) to be able to go out and pay my own way!
How can this socialist government justify me paying for everyone else to sit on there lazy f'ing *****!
Where is the incentive in life?
Absolutley outraged!

Seems to be the way, encourage chavs and others that can't afford to have kids to have as many brats as they can then leave it to the rest of society to provide for them.
The default should be to be well behaved, if they don't then punish them, we shouldn't be having to "bribe" kids to behave. Of course this will do nothing to stop the druken yobs on the street corners as they won't give a monkey's or will just nick a voucher of some poor kid that's doing nothing wrong.

The idea is to get them off the streets and into something constructive ... and why not?
My disappointment is that the better off areas again suffer the lack of funding and the council estates get the bigger funding - should be an even playing field!!

Fine give them the vouchers, but make them do a few hours litter picking off the streets to earn it first.

Sure provide facilities for them (everyone) to use and give discount to the young, but why hand out money to them?
Why not? you ask!

- it breads lazyness
- it teaches them (the young) to expect a hand out from an early age
the benifit handout scandal (that is New Labour) was greater that NI

When my bunch of friends and I were young we found it easy enough to create our own entertainment which did not upset other people either. There were lots of things to do, making go carts out of pram wheels, going fishing, getting old motor bikes and learning how to do them up once we were old enough for a bike licence, etc etc. We learned how to do things for ourselves.
Bribing children in this way gives entirely the wrong message. They will grow up thinking the world owes them a living and does not encourage them to think for themselves. It will swell the ranks of the chavs who will soon learn how to fiddle the arrangement anyway.
Just another cheap attempt at cheap publicity which is totally ineffective.

nothing new here. It's more inverse survival of the fittest. Darwin would be ****ed if he was trying to propose his theory in modern britain.
The "fittest" nowadays are lucky if they can afford to have 2 kids (and therefore maintain their current population at best), while the scum is on a breeding frenzy. The more they have, the more money they get, the bigger house they get etc.
The whole country is drowning under a tide of brain-dead feckless wasters, who are all having 5+ kids each. The other damaging thing to note is that: the working/middle classes tend to have a new generation every 26 years (and getting older) while the scum are approaching twice that rate. Its an exponential nightmare that only a proper right wing party could ever hope to sort out - but where the hell are they? why doesn't everyone see that we are on a rapid decline to anarchy.

Stupidist thing this government has ever come up with.
You want to help kids, put the best teachers in the worst areas and pay them more. There's nothing more inspiring than good teachers.Unfortunately most kids who misbehave have morons for parents.

This whole government has been about making everyone the same! But here's a news flash - everyone isn't the same! So instead of dragging the working/middle classes down to the level of the scrubbers with pile upon pile of means tested "benefits", we should just cut em loose and let them get on with it.
