ASBOs
A mate of mine told me last night that the Police had been round to his house and issued him with an ASBO because one of his neighbours had reported him for driving like a **** down his street 
Is this possible and what does it mean if he's not winding me up. He did sound very serious and genuine about it but he hardly drives his car He works in the city at his Dad's company and they commute to work together in his Dad's car 
His car is usually sat on his drive and it's had a split sump for about a month now.
It all sounds a bit strange to me.

Something doesn't add up. They don't (or shouldn't) give an asbo for this type of thing without forewarning. i.e. he was asked by the police to be quieter and he ignored them etc.

as mentioned asbos are issued by courts. The police I beieve were probably using powers from a 2002 act, section 59 i think it is. This means that, now he has been warned, that if he is caught doing it again, the police can impound his car. Do a search on Police Reform act section 59....

There are tons of cars that are naturally loud straight from the factory. Do you want them banned?
As for music some are excessive but most wont turn their systems up till their on a main road.

PSLewis, I know you love a stir and you have made me laugh many times. I agree that anti-social behviour in a car is stupid and irresponsible and also gives people a bad impression of all car drivers, but why are you being so aggressive on this one? You are entitled to your opinions, but do you KNOW that his guy was even guilty of what's been mentioned?

How about this to an alternative to an asbo..
****** caught keying car / burgalrising...
car / home owner given a baseball bat and told
three strikes... you choose what level of power used and where you strike...

this is a golf 1.8t after all my friend is far from a chav and like I say doesn't even drive his car.
