Default Had my first week at new job

Drawing Controller in a CAD office.

Working in a small team (3 of us) scanning drawings then logging them on a pc using OCE. Also creating and copying compact discs.

Initially took me on, on a 2 week trial due to my lack of office experience, but one of the guys on the team said ive pretty much got a full time job.

Steady away, and a little easy at moment but it certainly beats welding!

Glad it's going well. You're very lucky to get an opportunity like this, so make sure you put the effort in

If anything goes wrong you can always weld the bosses car doors shut.

Sounds like it's a lot better than your last place.

Good Luck.

OCE is a pile of Sh@t. We considered buying a A0 scanner a few years ago to convert all the old hand drawing drawing to digital.
The reps came out, set it all up, and merrily started scanning away saying how wonderful it was. Only when I pointed out that it was missing half the lines and text off, did they start making excuses. Tried to say the lines were too light. So I got them to scan a CAD drawing, with the same results.

Needless to say we didn't bother. The software was even worse. I'm sure things have moved on since, but to be honest, no one would have time to scan drawing all day. Plus no one onced to.

16vmarc, I'm glad that you have a job, but your days must drag like mad. You must have one of the most boring jobs going. All based on my experience of scanning of course.

All credit to you marc "Boring" is all relative and if you're coping with your new job and can appreciate the positives compared to your old job, then stick with it. Employers need you to have experience, not do a critical review of the equipment they give you to work with

Hope the job turns into a "proper" one and who knows what the future holds Good luck

Stilover - I can see where youre coming from, on friday i scanned a very large pile of drawings and when i got back to my pc it hadnt transfered them across! Funnily enough the days go by pretty quick, must be the 45min net time i get!

As said its all experience for other things, it may not be the best job in the world, but it certainly beats welding in a workshop!

Marc - most boring thing in the world is sitting at home not earning. Good luck with your 2 week review [crosses fingers, toes, arms, legs, neck... ahh **** that was sore]
