The Middle Lane Owners Club...

Were out in force today on the section of motorway from M40 (Wycombe East) to the M25 junction. If you know that bit of road you will know that it is four lanes of traffic which really confuses the Volvo 340s and Nissan Micras that the MLOC are determined to drive at 55mph in the middle lane... some were in lane 2, some were in lane 3, none were in lane 1.
Now many people say we should do something about these tarmac terrorists, fine them, ban them, hang draw and quarter them.
But NO! These people are completely oblivious to the drivers around them, we can't have the MLOC realising the error of their ways and changing lanes... there would be carnage.

Im a lorry driver (restricted to 56mph) And it really F**KS ME OFF when you get the old people driving there cars at 53mph in the in side lane let alone lane 2. And another subject they should teach you on the driving test, the slip road is to accelerate to the speed of the motorway and then filter in. Not go up it at 53 and then get pis**d off or panic because there is a lorry next to you. And guess what if you pull out for them as soon as they are next to you one of two things is bound to happen, They either speed up quickley to undertake you (why not do that on the slip road???) or stay there at 55mph and have no idea that this takes up two lanes as we carnt get past them quickley. Wan***s
I agree fine, ban, or educate them!!
Any one else noticed this??

Yeah annoyes the hell out of me really tempted to get on of the electronic signsin back of car displaying "Observer proper lane Discipline" or move to lane 1.
But then again the type that generally sit in the middle lane are mostly in la la land and looking straight forward with blinkards on and aren't really aware of their surrounding or why they are sat in the middle lane.
Saw an old person today go to the end of the motorway slip road, stop and then indicate ! Luckily one of the motorway patrols (non police) pulled over to assist - and hopefully shot them !

Undertaking them usually wakes them up, especially if you pull up level with them, look across at them, shake your head and then accelerate away. ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Unfortunately I am a big fan of undertaking in these circumstances. The thing that makes me laugh the hardest is when you undertake some pr1ck and they respond by accelerating, gesticulating and shouting!
Obviously I only undertake when I deem it to be safe to do so.
I'm not sure if lane hogging is an offence (mayeb due care) but I know that undertaking is.........

I recently undertook a middle lane hog as we passed a fecking huge dot matrix sign with the message "Keep Left Unless Overtaking". I even gave him a quick beep of the horn and pointed at the sign and just got a look of sheer bewilderment back.
Mind you, having just got back from 2 weeks driving in Tenerife, I realise our driving standards could be a whole lot worse...

They were out in force on the M25 last night. Driving back around 12:30 AM - hardly the busiest time either. At times I could count on one hand the number of cars and guess where the majority were sitting? I resisted the urge to undetake - it was amazing the number that did move over once you got up behind them and indicate to go round (especially with the RX8s rather good xenon headlamps turning night into day
). I think it is simply a lack of concentration. Quite worrying really..

There were a number of them on the M4 too - pootling along at 65 in the middle lane. They were also oblivious to the 50mph speed limit for road works too, sticking to 65 then too

Well I'd say that 8 out of 10 of you lot drive in the middle lane too.............By my reckoning at least 80% of motorway drivers only use lanes 2 and 3, I can't believe that we are all perfect
My favourites are the BMW drivers, front fogs, no indicators and middle lane, ......W*NKERS

I am always in Lane 1 unless overtaking and don't tar all BMW's with the same brush. If its empty and theres a hog overtake it and then pull in front of them and slow until they are forced to overtake you or alternatively see how many hog laps you can do. 11 is my record on a bored journey

It's been a long time since I have read the Highway Code
but I thought,if the road was clear, there was only one driving lane on a motorway. The other lanes are for overtakeing only.
Have things changed?
I drive a lot on the M25 between J11 & J6 & can almost make the whole journey without coming out of the driving lane in the rush hour ,if I feel so inclined, except to overtake some lorries or very slow moving cars becuse the middle & outside lanes are completly full & most people seem to have some kind of morbid fear of the inside lane.Nice of the government to lay on my own private bit of road

My fav when they have really pi55ed me of is to do something illegal
and wave as I pass by. Had a mate in the car and he wet himself, then watched in disbelief as they sat there oblivious to what just happed!!
Best 1 I ever saw was overtaking someone doing 50 in lane 2 on the M25, I overtook them and a 40ft rig undertook them. And they didn't get the hint
